WWE has taken another step in securing the future of Zilla Fatu by filing a trademark application for his ring name.
According to records filed on August 27, WWE submitted an application to trademark “Zilla Fatu” for a variety of professional wrestling and entertainment purposes.
The filing comes during a major period in Fatu’s young WWE career after he officially signed with the company in August and joined the NXT roster.
The trademark covers wrestling exhibitions and performances across television, radio and online platforms. It also covers wrestling news and information, sports entertainment websites, fan club services, social entertainment events, newsletters and online blogs.
Fatu is already being placed into a major opportunity in NXT.
He is scheduled to challenge for the NXT Championship at NXT Heatwave, where he will compete against Tony D’Angelo, Grayson Waller and Cruz Montana.
The trademark filing is another indication that WWE intends to continue using the Zilla Fatu name as his career with the company develops.
Fatu is the son of the late WWE star Umaga and is part of the famous Anoa’i wrestling family.
