Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn as world champions in WWE

Crown Jewel 2026 is the next PLE on the WWE calendar, with the promotion set to once again return to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia as part of the ongoing partnership between WWE and the country. However, there are some fans scratching their heads and asking questions about the Crown Jewel event, with many safety concerns being raised in recent weeks. With conflict in the region, recent attacks at airports, and recommendations from the US Embassy dissuading people from travelling, there are doubts that WWE will head to Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel 2026. So, what exactly is happening with the show, will it take place, and are WWE looking at alternatives?

  • WWE Crown Jewel is scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia.
  • Conflict in the Middle East has seen attacks at Riyadh’s airport.
  • The US Embassy is recommending against travel.

Ever since the partnership between WWE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia began, there have been a whole host of controversies, problems, travel issues, and more surrounding PPVs/PLEs which have taken place in the region. Amidst ongoing worldwide conflict and tension, the region has been plunged into unpredictability and danger, with recent attacks seeing Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport a target. The US Embassy in Riyadh published a statement on October 10 which told all US citizens to avoid the airport and the area. This raises questions about the safety of WWE’s roster, staff, and fans who are expected to be in Saudi Arabia in just a few weeks time.

WWE’s recent trip to Saudi Arabia for Night Of Champions 2026 was under question due to the Iran war, with some believing that it would be canceled, though it ultimately went ahead without much of a hitch.

WWE May Consider Alternatives For Crown Jewel 2026

  • WWE has reportedly discussed the issues around Crown Jewel.
  • WWE talent wants plans to change for Crown Jewel.
  • There are likely backup plans in place for WWE’s next PLE.

It would be foolish to assume that WWE has not considered moving Crown Jewel from the volatile Riyadh area, with various reports suggesting that discussions have taken place. According to WrestleVotes on Fightful Select, these issues have been a topic of discussion within WWE, though it isn’t known to what extent. It is fair to assume that some alternative plans are in place if things get worse in the region, if talent refuses to travel, or government ruling and recommendation suggests that travel is very much not allowed. Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio made note that there was some expectation for things to change, even if it is at the last minute, and that WWE did in fact have some back-up plans in place.

Per a report from WRKD Wrestling, talent behind the scenes on Monday Night RAW were also talking about Crown Jewel with the shared hope that WWE would cancel and change plans, which may mean that there is a lot of uncertainty and potential fear for the show. This wouldn’t be the first time that WWE talent have been opposed to working Saudi Arabia shows, with the likes of Kevin Owens, John Cena, and others refusing to work some events in the past. It remains to be seen if WWE will consider the safety of those in the company, or if they will plough ahead regardless. A recent report from False Finish has revealed that WWE has been in contact with US government officials, though it is noted that TKO and Ari Emanuel will have the final decision.

WWE Is Still Advertising Crown Jewel For Saudi Arabia

  • WWE’s plans are still for Crown Jewel in Riyadh.
  • Crown Jewel Championship matches have been announced.
  • Time is running out for WWE to change plans.

After weeks of very little word or advertisement for Crown Jewel 2026, the fallout from Money In The Bank 2026 has seen WWE go ahead with billing the next PLE on the calendar to emanate from the Riyadh Season Stadium in the King Abdullah Financial District. The Crown Jewel Championships will be on the line for the third year in a row, with World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns taking on WWE Champion Sami Zayn and Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan battling WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green.

There is still time before November 7 for a lot to change for Crown Jewel 2026, and even more time for things to go in either a positive or negative direction before WrestleMania 43 rolls around, which is also set to take place in Saudi Arabia.
