Weekend TV Guide: AAA presents TripleMania doubleheader, NOAH’s N-1 Victory kicks off, STARDOM visits Yokohama and more! – POST Wrestling

After a much quieter slate last weekend, wrestling is back in full force this time around. Two big nights of AAA TripleMania action, WWE’s long-awaited return to Mexico, two big cards over in Japan, a serious counter-programming attempt from CMLL, plus so much more are expected to take place across the next 72 hours.

Don’t know what to catch this weekend? Here’s a rundown of 10 upcoming shows, plus when and where to catch each one.

Friday

WWE Friday Night Smackdown / 8 p.m. ET / USA Network

WWE’s busy weekend in Mexico will get started this evening, when Smackdown returns to Mexico City for the first time in 15 years. Tonight’s broadcast is loaded up with four different title clashes, including a world championship showdown between CM Punk and Sami Zayn.

Over two months ago, Zayn’s long-awaited first world title run came to a sudden end on Monday Night Raw, as Punk made his return and dethroned him in Chicago. Many weeks later, will Zayn be able to finally get his revenge and take the belt back?

Also on the show: Chelsea Green will defend her interim world title against Nia Jax, Cody Rhodes will address Randy Orton following his Sunday Night’s Main Event loss, and an appetizer for TripleMania will come in the form of two AAA championship showdowns.

AAA TripleMania 34 Night 1 / 10 p.m. ET / Youtube

Right after Smackdown wraps up, the attention of the WWE world will shift to AAA’s biggest event of the year, TripleMania. Before the two-night event wraps up on Sunday with a card in Mexico, AAA will host their first night of TripleMania in America since 1996 when they present a card this evening from Las Vegas, Nevada.

Being the first of two nights, this show has many of the smaller matches AAA has to offer this weekend. The biggest titles fights and programs will go down in a couple of days, with portions of tonight’s card focusing on #1 contenders bouts and special attraction matches.

The biggest clash of the night will see AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio go one-on-one with the huge, towering Omos. If Mysterio can win the match, Omos will be banned from AAA, a development that would be a huge loss for Dorian Roldan’s crew. We’ll also see AAA’s trios titles defended for the first time in over a year, with Los Psycho Circus facing off against the dangerous, rising faction Perros del Mal.

Looking to counter-program the lucha action presented by AAA this weekend, CMLL has some pretty big lineups over the next few days. The action begins tonight in Arena Mexico, where Mistico and Hechicero will team up to face Averno and Zack Sabre Jr. in the main event. The show will be a return to Mexico for technical NJPW star Sabre Jr., who has been away from the country for over two years.

There are a few stand-out matches lower in the lineup as well. El Sky Team’s Mascara Dorada and Neon will meet Templario and Titan, a match that sees four of the company’s current best all face off. Plus, a three-way involving Barbaro Cavernario, Gran Guerrero and Bad Dude Tito sounds like some wild fun.

STARDOM TO THE WORLD 2026 / 3 a.m. ET / Stagecrowd PPV

STARDOM will head to the Yokohama Budokan tomorrow morning for their first major pay-per-view event since this year’s 5Star Grand Prix, STARDOM TO THE WORLD.

World of STARDOM Champion Suzu Suzuki will look to defend her title for the second time in the main event, facing off against 10-year promotional vet Natsuko Tora. A win for Tora would put her on an incredibly exclusive list of two-time world champs, joining Io Shirai, Mayu Iwatani, and Tam Nakano. Suzuki is a fun name who has delivered through two world title showings, so I’m interested to see how this one will go.

AEW fans will be interested to know that Thekla and the Sisters of Sin will defend their Artist of STARDOM Championships as part of tomorrow morning’s card, facing the trio of Aya Sakura, Natsupoi and Yuna Mizumori. That bout will be one of the final opportunities for Natsupoi to earn a title before she retires from wrestling in January.

NOAH N-1 Victory Night 1 / 5 a.m. ET / Wrestle Universe

Most major tournaments on the Japanese wrestling calendar have wrapped up. However, there’s still a big one that has yet to get going! NOAH’s biggest tour of the year, N-1 Victory, will kick off tomorrow morning in Korakuen Hall. The G1-like tournament, which uses a two-block round-robin system before establishing a final, will begin this evening and run through to October 4.

The tournament features a long list of big names, like ex-GHC champs Kaito Kiyomiya, Yoshiki Inamura, Kazuyuki Fujita, Takashi Sugiura, Shane Haste, KENTA, Kenoh, and OZAWA. Defending tournament winner Masa Kitamiya will also be returning to try to go back-to-back.

Among the more interesting additions to the tournament is former NXT talent Dante Chen. After spending the past five years inside the WWE system, it’ll be interesting to see how he looks in the new setting.

AEW Collision / 8 p.m. ET / TNT

A live edition of AEW Collision will go down tomorrow night when they head to the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. No matches have been confirmed for the show yet, although AEW announced that the show will feature a tribute to former roster member “The Butcher” Andy Williams, who sadly passed away last weekend at the age of 48. The show will be a heavy watch for many, but should likely be a touching send-off for a beloved member of the wrestling community.

GCW No Signal in the Hills 5 / 11 p.m. ET / TrillerTV+

After presenting a show from Golden, Colorado on Friday night, GCW will visit the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California tomorrow for a stacked show titled No Signal in the Hills 5.

Reuniting for the first time since their time in the Wyatt Sicks WWE faction, GCW World Champion Joseph Sawyer (formerly Joe Gacy) and Samuel Shaw (ex-Dexter Lumis) will meet as part of tomorrow’s card. Another big cameo will take place earlier in the night when Hook teams with Bustah and the Brain to face KJ Orso and his heel trio.

For those into deathmatches, the card features Otis Cogar defending his Ultraviolent title against Vipress, plus a six-way ladder match to see who gets a shot at the belt next. I also have to mention what should be a fun six-man tag, with one of my favorite indie teams, the Savage Gnomes, working alongside Juicy Finau to face Cowboy Way and Tombstone Jesus.

Evil Uno’s Mystery Wrestling brand will touch down in Toronto, Canada, this Sunday for an event. Like every Mystery Wrestling broadcast, you never know what you’re going to see, as the lineups are never revealed ahead of time!

This show should be a little more emotional than usual. The tag partner for Andy Williams, The Blade, will be on commentary alongside Evil Uno as part of the show. Fans will be able to watch for free via the promotion’s Youtube or Twitch pages.

CMLL Domingo Familiar / 7 p.m. ET / Youtube

As mentioned earlier, CMLL is pulling out a lot of stops this week in order to counter AAA’s TripleMania events. Sunday, despite usually being a much quieter day for CMLL in their weekly programming, is easily the biggest event of this weekend for them. Hosting a show on the same evening that AAA is also in Mexico City, they’ve brought in a lot of international talent in hopes of stealing some of the attention.

AEW (Bandido, Komander, Divine Dominion, Speedball Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight), NJPW (Zack Sabre Jr.), and STARDOM (Starlight Kid, Maika, Mei Siera & Ema Maishima) are all represented as part of this lineup.

Realistically, CMLL won’t be able to steal AAA’s spotlight this weekend, as TripleMania is a big card. But, for those who are interested in CMLL and the promotions which orbit around them, they’ve put together quite a fun all star lineup for Sunday night that is certainly worth giving a look. AAA will head back to Mexico City for the second night of TripleMania. They’ve put a lot of effort into building this card, and it’s quite a strong lineup. Sure, nothing will touch the hype of the Grande Americano mask-versus-mask showdown from earlier this year. But that’s a really high standard to meet.

The main event could be a crowning moment for top AAA babyface El Grande Americano, who will try to capture the Mega Championship for the first time ever. Meeting up against Dominik Mysterio, who has held the title hostage for over a year now, it would be a huge win for the masked star if he can pull it off.

Another big result could also emerge in the co-main event when former CMLL name La Catalina tries to end Flammer’s record-setting 1,120-day run as AAA Reina de Reinas Champion. I’m definitely looking forward to that showdown as well.
