In what is being billed as the first ever two-night TripleMania (something which is objectively not true regardless of WWE’s claims), AAA headed to Las Vegas, Nevada for a historic show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena for TripleMania 34. With a card featuring stars from both WWE and AAA, there was a star-studded line-up on display for night one of this card.

TheSportster’s rating system will take a look across the entire match card for TripleMania 34 Night One to determine the best match of the show, the weakest showing of the card, and how everything stacked up in between too.

Los Psycho Circus Vs. Los Perros Del Mal (AAA World Trios Championships)

Los Psycho Clowns put their AEW World Trios Titles on the line at TripleMania 34 Night One, taking on the trio of Angel, Berto & Daga of Los Perros Del Mal. Unfortunately, this match was far from perfect, being dominated by the heelish antics of the challengers which got way too contrived and over-the-top. Los Psychos Clowns had some decent moments in their comebacks and flurries, but the in-ring work did occasionally struggle to find any momentum.

In the latter stages, the Clowns were taken out one-by-one thanks to interference and cheating, with Los Perros Del Mal winning in a frustrating title change.

Omos Vs. Rey Mysterio (Omos’ AAA Career On The Line)

In the main event of TripleMania 34 Night One, Omos’ career in AAA was on the line as he battled the current AAA General Manager, Rey Mysterio. The visual of Mysterio & Omos facing off to kick off this match was fantastic, but that is where things peaked. The two played cat & mouse until Omos finally caught Mysterio before issuing a slow, plodding, sloppy beatdown on the legend (two minutes of which consisted of Bear Hugs).

Mysterio conjured up some offense here and there, but due to the size disparity, Mysterio’s quality was unable to flourish as he was unable to display his usual fast-paced lucha libre style. Some chaos sparked the audience as the red-hot El Grande Americano and Dominik Mysterio brawled at ringside, plus a referee bump which allowed the AAA General Manager to use a steel chair. Mysterio hit a collection of 619s on several body parts of Omos, but none of this was enough to settle the score. In the end, all it took was a big boot and chokeslam to give Omos a lackluster win, before he then issued a brutal beatdown post-match.

Adelicious, Mascarita Sagrada & Mini Vikingo Vs. Jack Cartwheel, Lady Shani & Mini Abismo Negro

Night One of TripleMania 34 kicked off with a mixed trios match featuring wrestlers from multiple different divisions. As hard as those in the ring attempted to craft an enjoyable matchup, an early injury to Lady Shani caused the match to fall apart from early on.

Those remaining in the ring did manage to turn things around eventually to get the action back on track, particularly thanks to some strong sequences involving Jack Cartwheel and Mini Vikingo. It was a shame to see Adelicious unable to get too involved, but she did nail a big crossbody to the outside. Mini Vikingo secured the win for his team with a Shooting Star Press.

Roxanne Perez Vs. Faby Apache Vs. La Hiedra Vs. Nattie (AAA Reinas De Reinas Championship Number One Contender)

The dominant Reinas De Reinas Championship reign of Flammer looked for its next challenger at AAA TripleMania 34, as Faby Apache, La Hiedra, Nattie & Roxanne Perez entered the ring for a four way match to determine a brand new number one contender. This was a match that sometimes struggled to create momentum and interest from the fans, getting a little messy and disjointed but still managing to feature some decent sequences and nice moments.

The audience perked up whenever Perez got involved, who despite her role as a heel, proved to be the sentimental favorite for the crowd. In the latter moments, Flammer entered the ring and tried to hand the victory to Hiedra, but her involvement opened the door for a Pop Rox from Perez, giving her a win. She is now hoping to gain gold to join her Judgment Day allies as champions.

La Parka Vs. Laredo Kid Vs. Mr. Iguana (AAA Latin American Championship)

On the back of a loss on Monday Night RAW, La Parka sought to recoup some momentum in a defense of his AAA Latin American Championship, taking on Laredo Kid and the popular comedic character, Mr. Iguana. This bout proved to be a good showcase of the three differing styles of those involved, featuring good in-ring work, fast-paced action, fun spots (including an insane triple Spanish Fly), and more.

Kid’s work as a heel in the contest was good, slowing down the match at times and displaying impressive power, giving the fans someone to boo heavily throughout. Sure, there were some moments that didn’t quite flow or land, but this didn’t affect the enjoyment of proceedings. Admittedly, things did drag too long in the latter stages before Parka’s successful defense as he hit the Bone Breaker on Kid.

Los Americanos Vs. Fraxiom Vs. LWO Vs. Tokyo Bad Boys (Elimination)

Teams from WWE and AAA rosters battled in a wild elimination match as Los Americanos, Fraxiom, LWO and Tokyo Bad Boys looked to build some momentum in the tag team division. For the most part this was a fast-paced and wild spotfest that sent the crowd into several frenzies and allowed every team to showcase their talents, plus a few storyline advancements such as troubles teased in the LWO unit.

The final minutes involving Los Americanos and Fraxiom were especially entertaining, featuring brilliant sequences, world class technical work, near-falls (notably one from Frazer after a splash from Rayo Americano which sent the crowd into a frenzy), and more. In the end, a double team move allowed Los Americanos to escape with the win in the match of the night.
