WWE Crown Jewel Status Following Latest US Government Advice On Saudi Arabia

WWE is less than two months away from heading back to Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel. It will return to the country in early 2027 for WrestleMania 43. However, there’s a chance plans change, at least when it comes to the former, as escalating tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia have resulted in the US government issuing a travel warning.

US Government Advises Against Travel To Saudi Arabia

The government update advises against US citizens traveling to Saudi Arabia at present due to the risks involved. It’s unclear how long that warning will be in place, or if it will become even more severe. As detailed by Cageside Seats, the current level issued by the US State Department is at level three. That hasn’t changed. It’s the government warning now attached to it that may throw Crown Jewel, or at least where the PLE will take place, into jeopardy.

The warning appears to be a reaction to Saudi Arabian authorities reporting a Houthi drone interception, claiming it was headed for Mecca, the holy capital of Islam situated in Saudi Arabia. The accused has denied any such intention and has responded with claims that they were targeted via an attack on an Aramco facility in Yanbu.

Issues Would Need To Escalate Further To Scare Off WWE

As it stands, despite government advice, Crown Jewel will likely go ahead. WWE president Nick Khan has answered questions about fears that WWE Superstars and the US fans who go to shows in the Middle East might not be safe. “If US citizens are allowed in at this moment in time, it is declared and deemed safe, we’ll all be going there,” was Khan’s official response. If the threat level increases to four, that’s when US citizens are advised not to travel. That’s the stage at which even WWE might have to concede and alter its plans.

Crown Jewel may still be seven weeks away, but that’s close enough that WWE likely has creative plans locked in. There are already reports claiming the main event that night will see Roman Reigns challenge Sami Zayn for the WWE Championship. The belief is that the whole reason Zayn shocked the world by beating Punk for the title during the September 11 edition of SmackDown was so that match could happen in Saudi Arabia.

Those plans can still go ahead even if WWE does have to hold Crown Jewel on US soil. As it stands, though, it’s unlikely that plans will change. It might seem wild when the government is advising against traveling to Saudi Arabia, but WWE has an unbelievable amount of money tied up in that Saudi deal. Whatever happens, if the situation gets worse, there’s a chance it affects next year’s WrestleMania too.
