Reports: WWE possibly not airing Worlds Collide: Chicago as a live broadcast – POST Wrestling

A new report has called into question whether we’ll actually even see a head-to-head broadcast battle between WWE and AEW in Chicago later this month.

Fightful Select reported on Wednesday that WWE might not present a live broadcast for Worlds Collide, a show co-promoted with AAA that will take place at the Allstate Arena in Chicago on September 26.

Sources inside WWE told Fightful that the event is expected to be a “live event” instead of one planned for TV. If it were to air, it’s expected it would either land on Youtube or behind the Club WWE subscription service. The report stressed that plans can change in terms of what WWE will do for the event’s broadcast.

A report from PWInsider said that, while the event will be taped, it’s expected to be released at a later date.

WWE’s main roster brands, along with AAA and NXT will be presenting Worlds Collide later this month from Chicago. The event will take place at the same time as AEW’s All Out pay-per-view, which will broadcast live nearby from the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

Many expected Worlds Collide to broadcast live. The company has positioned many NXT and AAA broadcasts to oppose AEW PPVs in recent months. An AAA and NXT matinee doubleheader from Texas took place last month, airing at the same time as AEW’s All In event from Wembley Stadium.

Past Worlds Collide shows hosted by WWE in 2025 aired via Youtube.

The Allstate Arena released an initial lineup for Worlds Collide on Wednesday, including CM Punk, Rey Mysterio, Penta, Dominik Mysterio, and El Grande Americano.
