WWE Is Already Ruining Je’Von Evans

Je’Von Evans is one of the youngest names on the current WWE roster, with the future prospect just 22 years of age. Evans has so many more years to go when it comes to developing, finding a gimmick that fits, and to shake off whatever bad booking he undergoes over the next few years. Unfortunately for Evans, after a pretty solid start to life on Monday Night RAW, he is being tested with some pretty terrible booking and handling from those in charge of WWE’s creative team. Inconsistent character work, pointless losses, and giant heads are the creative choices handed to Evans by Triple H, and all of these elements risk ruining Evans’ momentum in WWE.

Je’Von Evans’ WWE Main Roster Career Had A Strong Start

• WWE’s call-up of Evans was a welcome change from the norm.
• Evans’ in-ring showcases on RAW were getting him over.
• Evans’ role in WWE midcards was very positive.

WWE has tended to keep wrestlers in NXT and developmental for far longer than they should, leading to wrestlers sometimes reaching their 30s before ever getting a taste of Monday Night RAW or Friday Night SmackDown. In the case of Je’Von Evans, WWE made the call to bring him up to the main roster earlier than most, and in doing so they have allowed him the chance to improve tenfold. His call-up was gradual and effective, featuring in the Last Time Is Now Tournament and on Saturday Night’s Main Event in December 2025, before receiving a full-time call-up. He had strong performances in the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber match, and in a ladder match at WrestleMania 42, proving to be invaluable experience.

As 2026 progressed, Evans became a key part of the midcard division alongside the likes of Penta, Ethan Page, Rusev, Dominik Mysterio, Dragon Lee, and more, working hard to bring strong and consistent in-ring quality to the RAW brand, and drum up more prestige surrounding the Intercontinental Championship. Although things were developing well for Evans, his luck eventually took a downward turn.

Je’Von Evans’ WWE Character Has Had Inconsistent Booking

• Triple H gave Evans an angrier edge as 2026 progressed.
• WWE hasn’t followed up on Evans’ change in personality.
• It has been hard for Evans to nail down a distinct character and gimmick.

Throughout Je’Von Evans’ spell in WWE’s midcard division, a tag team loss alongside Penta against Rusev & Ethan Page led to Evans shrugging off Penta’s attempts to check if he was okay, showcasing some serious angst and attitude. This tease of a heel turn (or at the very least a more serious change in his character) was a questionable one given his obvious early success as a natural, popular babyface. At the very least, it would give Evans some depth and a chance to trial out different promo styles… until his angrier side became less apparent.

Evans has, at times, displayed some more stiffness and aggression during matches, but for the most part his tease of turning heel has been abandoned, randomly returning here and there without rhyme nor reason. If WWE doesn’t know what Evans’ character is supposed to be, then it makes it ten times harder for Evans to give strong character-driven performances, making it even harder for fans to firmly get behind him and buy into whatever he’s doing. Evans deserves way more consistency and direction.

Triple H’s Booking Of Je’Von Evans Has Become Terrible

• Evans was decimated by Big Cass on RAW.
• Evans’ feud with Judgment Day has led to cringeworthy moments.
• WWE has time to save Evans as a legit star of the future.

Inconsistent character work was something that could even itself out at some point, but plain bad booking is hard to overcome. All it takes in WWE is for one bad storyline, segment, or promo to turn around someone’s career for the worst, and WWE has Evans walking a tightrope (although luckily he’s quite the acrobat). In recent weeks on Monday Night RAW, Je’Von Evans has been decisively dominated by the returning Big Cass, who is already stone cold in terms of momentum and character. This loss only served to weaken Evans, and WWE’s follow up hasn’t been ideal either.

Evans has entered a feud with Dominik Mysterio & JD McDonagh of the Judgment Day, losing in tag team matches alongside Joe Hendry, before being used in some quite cringeworthy comedy spots. Making fun of McDonagh’s head size, Evans came out to the ring sporting a giant Funko Pop mask, dancing around like a fool and mocking the heel in a segment that felt right out of the 2019 Vince McMahon-led WWE. Evans deserves serious feuds, victories, and star-making moments, instead his character is a mess, he’s getting beat in glorified squash matches, and now he’s involved in comedy feuds.
