WWE Announces Intercontinental Championship Match For August 17 Raw Wrestling News Source – Latest WWE, AEW, Pro Wrestling News, AEW All In: London 2026 Results

WWE has added more matches to Monday night’s Raw, including an Intercontinental Championship showdown in Buffalo.

Raw General Manager Adam Pearce confirmed the latest additions on Sunday, announcing that Chad Gable will put the Intercontinental Championship on the line against WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio.

The championship encounter was set in motion during last week’s Raw when Gable and Mysterio agreed to face one another backstage. At the time, WWE stopped short of announcing when the match would take place, but Pearce has now confirmed it for the August 17 episode.

Pearce announced:

“I come to you today with breaking news. Live tomorrow night on the flagship in Buffalo, Chad Gable will put the Intercontinental Championship on the line against the Hall of Famer and the greatest luchador of all time, Rey Mysterio. That’s right, it’s Gable versus Rey, live tomorrow night in Buffalo.”

Another new addition will see Sol Ruca go one-on-one with Lyra Valkyria.

The show will also feature two opening-round tournament matches, with the eventual winner earning an opportunity to challenge Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship on September 14 in Mexico City.

Dragon Lee will meet El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. in one tournament bout, while Rey Fenix takes on El Fiscal in the other.

Reigns himself is also advertised to appear on Raw, while WWE has announced that Jey Uso will deliver Solo Sikoa to the World Heavyweight Champion.

Monday’s Raw takes place from the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. WrestleTix reported on Sunday that 9,020 tickets had been distributed for the event.
