Big Cass’ WWE Return Is Already A Dud

Big Cass made his return to the WWE for the first time in nearly a decade in recent weeks, making an explosive comeback by attacking Je’Von Evans on the Monday Night RAW brand. With Cass’ impressive physique, promise that he showed in the likes of AEW and other promotions over the last ten years, and ability to portray a variety of different characters, there were high hopes for his return to WWE, but this excitement has quickly died down. Like many names who either return to WWE or make their debuts on the main roster, his handling has been less than ideal from Triple H, making his return already a dud.

Big Cass’ WWE Character Has No Depth On RAW

  • Big Cass returned to WWE as a monster heel.
  • WWE fans haven’t had any reason to care for Cass.
  • He has done the same thing on RAW for three weeks.

Time and time again over the years, WWE fans have witnessed the “monster heel” trope – a character whose sole purpose is to beat down others, hurt people, destroy those in their path, and perhaps look to win a title (but only sometimes). Outside of a few examples, this trope almost always falls flat on its face. We’ve seen the likes of Lars Sullivan, Mike Knox, Vladimir Kozlov, Veer, Kurrgan, Lord Tensai, Snitsky, Giant Gonzalez, and countless others over the years and in every era of WWE, completely fail due to a lack of depth and interest. Big Cass is currently falling into that very same category.

Since returning to WWE he’s been mean, angry, attacked those in his path, and hit all the same bullet points as every other monster heel. He has made clear that his attacks on others are not personal… but aside from that there isn’t any explanation over what motivates him, why he’s a bad guy, and what his intentions are moving forwards in WWE. Fans are currently booing Big Cass, but it won’t be long until fans become disenchanted with the giant if things continue in this rather boring, lackluster, and uncreative manner.

Big Cass’ Feud With Je’Von Evans Helps No One

  • Je’Von Evans being fed to Big Cass is a mistake.
  • If Cass loses to Evans, he is immediately devalued.
  • This is a very odd feud for Triple H to book.

Since returning to WWE, Big Cass has set his sights on the young up-and-comer Je’Von Evans… which is a baffling creative decision from WWE. Evans has been riding a strong wave of momentum throughout 2026 since coming to the WWE main roster, feuding with fellow midcarders Ethan Page, Penta, Rusev, and others. To have him selected as Big Cass’ first feud is an eyebrow raiser as there is simply no way that the feud helps anyone. For instance, feeding a young name like Evans to Big Cass will do him zero favors in his rise up the card, only serving to halt his path. Losing to a fellow younger name like Bron Breakker or an established main eventer is fine in building him, but getting put down by a 40-year old Big Cass who has never really had any proper success in WWE is something that makes very little sense.

On the flip side, Evans beating Cass would certainly help the “Young OG”, but Cass losing so soon into his return would be something that derails him completely and ruins his momentum immediately. Cass defeating someone like a Rey Mysterio who won’t be impacted whatsoever by a loss at this point in his career would have been a far better way to introduce him back onto WWE programming.

WWE Should’ve Gone A Different Route With Big Cass

  • There are rumors of Enzo Amore’s WWE return.
  • WWE should have had Cass team with Amore.
  • Cass could have feuded with someone different on the roster.

Upon the rumblings that Big Cass was coming back to WWE, there were also rumors of the return of Enzo Amore – the former tag team partner of Cass. During their time in NXT and on the main roster, this double act became one of the most over and entertaining tag teams in WWE at the time. Well, that was until WWE pulled the rug from under their feet and broke up the act before it had a chance to truly make an impact. With how badly Cass’ previous run as a monster heel was in WWE (with lackluster feuds against The Big Show and Daniel Bryan), it would have been preferable for WWE to reunite this duo and inject some serious life into the awful tag team division.

WWE is missing more charismatic acts like Enzo & Cass who can light up arenas, have fans chanting along, and generate real and positive babyface energy. Instead, Cass has returned as a lifeless brute and will very soon lose steam. Cass is far better when he’s able to show personality, as proven by his success alongside Enzo and even when he was part of Chris Jericho’s “Learning Tree” in AEW, in which he was easily the highlight (though this wasn’t hard). WWE has time to turn things around, but they should do so soon.
