Liv Morgan had been chasing world title glory for a few years, steadily building up more popularity amongst the WWE Universe. At Money In The Bank 2022, she finally climbed the ladder and became the brand new SmackDown Women’s Champion.
Morgan’s win came just a matter of an hour or so after winning the Money In The Bank briefcase, cashing in her briefcase on the very same night against a weakened Ronda Rousey. The crowd came unglued to see Morgan win a major belt for the first time ever.

Bayley Wins SmackDown Women’s Championship

Charlotte Flair ousted a weakened Becky Lynch at Money In The Bank 2019 to become the brand new SmackDown Women’s Champion, but her celebration was cut short by Bayley, who cashed in her Money In The Bank contract which she won earlier that very same night.

The feud between Randy Orton & Christian in 2011 featured both incredible in-ring work as some stunning heel character development from Christian, which got better and better as it went on. The peak of his heel work came at the Money In The Bank event when he took nefarious means to reclaiming the World Heavyweight Championship.
In a match in which the stipulation determined that Orton would lose his gold if he got disqualified, Christian poked, prodded, and spat, winding Orton up to the point that he unleashed a low blow. This may be a divisive way to win a top prize, but the execution of this title change was strong.

Asuka (Sort Of) Wins RAW Women’s Championship
- Asuka won the 2020 Money In The Bank ladder match.

- WWE’s twist was a fun one regarding Asuka’s title win.
Money In The Bank 2020 featured the weirdest pair of ladder matches of all time, as both men’s and women’s fields fought their way up Titan Tower to retrieve the briefcases, which were on the roof of the building. Asuka retrieved the women’s briefcase… but a twist was in store on Monday Night RAW.
Reigning RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch revealed to Asuka that she was pregnant, and she prompted Asuka to open up the briefcase. Inside was the RAW Women’s Title, with an emotional Asuka overjoyed at her inadvertent prize. This was a unique way to bring about a title change, and the segment between Asuka & Lynch was brilliant.

The main event of Money In The Bank 2016 saw Roman Reigns defend the WWE Championship against rival and former friend Seth Rollins. This was a high profile headliner that featured both men putting in tremendous performances, all ending with a surprise finish. Despite his heelish role, Rollins defeated WWE’s newest golden boy clean in the middle of the ring to win the WWE Title for a second time.
Reigns’ pending suspension led to WWE’s decision to have him lose without any shenanigans, but it was still a shock to see Rollins win this match so decisively.

Just moments after Seth Rollins beat Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship, the third member of The Shield, Dean Ambrose, made his presence known. Attacking Rollins from behind (much like Rollins did to his Shield brothers to break up their group), Ambrose took out his rival and cashed in the Money In The Bank briefcase, which was also a cruel twist of fate for Rollins, whose first title reign came in the same fashion.
In front of a frenzied crowd, Ambrose beat Rollins and stood tall as the WWE Champion in a moment that at times seemed unthinkable for this popular star.

CM Punk Wins WWE Championship
- Punk defeated John Cena at Money In The Bank 2011.
- This was Punk’s first WWE Championship win and fourth world title in WWE.
- Cena vs. Punk is one of WWE’s best ever matches.
In one of the greatest WWE main events of all time, CM Punk and John Cena battled in an absolute classic. In a clash rich with storytelling, phenomenal in-ring work, and an all-timer crowd, Punk won the match in front of his hometown crowd and became WWE Champion.
This moment was elevated by the fact that Punk’s contract was set to expire later that night, with his escape with the belt throwing WWE’s world title picture into complete disarray. Punk’s win brought about one of the best PPV endings in wrestling history.
