This Disrespected WWE Gimmick Will Help Revive TNA

TNA Wrestling has been around for a quarter of a century and during that time the promotion has seen some ups and plenty of downs. Created by Jerry and Jeff Jarrett, the company rose in the mid 2000s as a fun alternative to WWE, only to sink to a low when Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan took over. These days, TNA is a mixed bag with enough going right thanks to a great roster made up of a lot of overlooked former WWE stars finding a second chance elsewhere. TNA has a ceiling at the moment, but they could rise to new heights if reports are true, and they’re able to land a beloved faction who was ruined by horrible WWE creative choices.

Reports Say That TNA Wants To Sign Several Members of the Wyatt Sicks

It seems like every April WWE releases a big batch of wrestlers right after WrestleMania, taking away the biggest high of the year and bringing fans back to the harsh reality of modern WWE. This year was no different. On April 24, 2026 came a series of stunning WWE firings. Among them were every single member of the Wyatt Sicks, which included Uncle Howdy, Dexter Lumis, Joe Gacy, Erick Rowan, and Nikki Cross. Nearly two years after their debut, they were completely gone just like that.

Five months later, some of the members of the Wyatt Sicks have found new homes on the indie circuit, but according to Rick Ucchino of Sports Illustrated’s The Takedown, America’s number three wrestling promotion is showing interest in the stable.

The Takedown on SI has learned that TNA Wrestling has expressed serious interest in bringing in multiple members of the Wyatt Sicks, but we have not been able to confirm at this time whether a deal has been reached with any of the five former WWE Superstars.

It’s also not clear which members specifically are in play for a potential debut with the company, but some combination of Taylor Rotunda, Joseph Sawyer, Samuel Shaw, and Erick Redbeard, formerly known as Uncle Howdy, Joe Gacy, Dexter Lumis and Erick Rowan, respectively, would provide an instant boost to the TNA tag team division.

The Wyatt Sicks does not exist, of course, without Bray Wyatt. The late WWE superstar created a unique character who was able to evolve and stay relevant for years. Argue about how he was booked and how cinematic his matches could get if you like, but everything was put into the gimmick. When he tragically passed away, his memory lived on through his real-life brother, Bo Dallas, who returned as the masked Uncle Howdy, now standing alongside a new faction known as the Wyatt Sicks.

Their June 2024 Raw debut was among the most stunning in wrestling history, with the group of horror characters shown in the bloody aftermath of backstage carnage. In the arena, fans cheered and fireflies lit up. Online, the debut took social media by storm and had everyone talking. In a time of such predictability, WWE had fans feeling how amazing wrestling could be. Sadly, like WWE often does, the follow-up was severely lacking. Hindered by injuries and bad booking, the Wyatt Sicks soon lost relevance. By the end of their time in WWE, they were facing the MFTs every single week on SmackDown in a feud no one cared about. When every member was let go, it signaled an end to supernatural gimmicks in WWE that may never return.

The Wyatt Sicks Can Create a Hook To Bring in New TNA Fans

When TNA began its TV contract with AMC, many fans thought this gave them the potential to surpass AEW and become second only to the juggernaut that is WWE. It hasn’t happened. With AEW seeing a rejuvenation, TNA has about half of their viewership. Many weeks of Impact struggle with in-person attendance, but there is hope for the promotion. It has become the home not of old WWE veterans as it was in years past, but of younger, talented former WWE wrestlers who weren’t respected in their former home. Today, Nick Nemeth is the TNA World Champion and one half of the TNA Tag Team Champions with his brother, Ryan, while Mustafa Ali reigns as the TNA International Champion. Add in names like AJ Francis, Ash by Elegance, Cedric Alexander, Elijah, Indi Hartwell, and more, and you have an impressive roster.

TNA is no joke when it comes to in-ring action. Unlike WWE and AEW, they can’t find the hook to bring in more viewers. Signing AJ Styles’ son was a nice move, but it doesn’t move the needle. The Wyatt Sicks, in some form, can do so. They will certainly have to change their names and alter their look a bit, but they can accomplish in TNA what they were only allowed to touch for just a moment in WWE. Audiences love factions, especially intimidating ones who destroy everyone in their path. Just look at the nWo or the Bloodline as proof. Expecting them to reach those levels is farfetched. Still, they can make headlines and create social media engagement with their segments. TNA needs a spark. It can be lit with the fireflies of the Wyatt Sicks.
