Every Time A Wrestler Cashed-In Money In The Bank The Same Night
Winning the Money In The Bank contract opens the door for a WWE wrestler to challenge for a world title at any time and any place for a full year – but some winners of the briefcase do not want to wait that long. For some Mr & Miss Money In The Banks, they want to win their promised prize at the earliest possible opportunity, cashing in their guaranteed title match contract on the very same night.
Across the history of Money In The Bank, this has happened a grand total of six times thus far, and it will likely end up happening again. It is interesting to go back and look at which competitors made the call to cash in their briefcase mere hours after their victory.

Kane (Money In The Bank 2010)
- Kane was the first wrestler to ever cash in on the same night.
- He defeated Rey Mysterio at Money In The Bank 2010.
- He won the World Heavyweight Championship.
At the first ever Money In The Bank event, Kane emerged victorious in the SmackDown ladder match, wasting little time by making history as the first wrestler to cash in his contract on the very same night.
He emerged following the World Heavyweight Title match between reigning champion Rey Mysterio and challenger Jack Swagger, laying out Mysterio to win his first world title in over a decade (not counting the ECW Championship).

Dean Ambrose (Money In The Bank 2016)
- Seth Rollins defeated Roman Reigns to win the WWE Title.
- Ambrose cashed in his contract immediately after the main event.
- All three members of The Shield held the WWE Championship.
Dean Ambrose survived a strong field in 2016 to win the Money In The Bank briefcase, and he was in no business of waiting to capitalize. In the main event of the evening, just an hour later, Seth Rollins defeated Roman Reigns in a surprisingly clean result to become the new WWE Champion… until Ambrose’s music cut short his celebration.
Ambrose attacked Rollins with the briefcase, enacting real revenge for Rollins’ betrayal of The Shield, winning his first and only world title in WWE at the earliest possible opportunity. This proved to be a historic moment as all three members of The Shield held the WWE Championship on the very same night, which is a remarkable statistic.

Alexa Bliss (Money In The Bank 2018)
- Ronda Rousey & Nia Jax wrestled at Money In The Bank 2018.
- Alexa Bliss interfered to cause a no contest.
- Bliss won the RAW Women’s Championship.
Just a short time after she lost the RAW Women’s Title at WrestleMania 34, Alexa Bliss quickly found a route back to the gold in her win of the Money In The Bank briefcase. The very same night, she made the decision to take back the belt in speedy fashion.
Ronda Rousey was moments away from overcoming Nia Jax at the Money In The Bank 2018 PPV in just her second ever match in WWE, until Bliss arrived to spoil the party. She attacked Rousey & Jax to cause a no contest, before cashing in her contract on Jax to escape with the belt.
3
Bayley (Money In The Bank 2019)
- Charlotte Flair won the SmackDown Women’s Title from Becky Lynch.
- Bayley cashed in her contract after the match.
- Bayley became the brand new SmackDown Women’s Champion.
Just one year after Liv Morgan became the first woman to cash in the Money In The Bank contract on the very same night, Bayley followed suit by doing the same in 2019. After Becky Lynch had already successfully defended the RAW Women’s Title against Lacey Evans, she stepped up to defend the SmackDown Women’s Title against Charlotte Flair, losing in just a few minutes.
Post-match, Bayley emerged to save Lynch for a two-on-one attack… before deciding then and there to cash in her Money In The Bank briefcase and defeat Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. She could have chosen Lynch and the RAW belt, but she instead chose Flair.
2
Liv Morgan (Money In The Bank 2022)
- Ronda Rousey retained the SmackDown Women’s Title.
- Rousey suffered an injured knee against Natalya.
- Liv Morgan targeted the knee and won the gold at Money In The Bank.
At Money In The Bank 2022, Liv Morgan defeated the likes of Asuka, Becky Lynch, Lacey Evans, Alexa Bliss, Raquel Rodriguez, and Shotzi to become the new Miss. Money In The Bank, but she wouldn’t remain with that moniker for very long as she cashed in the contract just a couple of hours later.
Ronda Rousey had just successfully retained her SmackDown Women’s Title against Natalya, though came out of the match with a weakened knee that had been heavily targeted. Morgan arrived and smashed her briefcase on the knee of Rousey before cashing in and capitalizing, standing tall with her first ever world title in WWE.
1
Drew McIntyre (Money In The Bank 2024)
- McIntyre added himself to Seth Rollins vs. Damian Priest.
- CM Punk cost McIntyre the World Heavyweight Title.
- McIntyre is the only wrestler to lose when cashing in on the same night.
Drew McIntyre had been screwed out of the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40 and Clash At The Castle, so he believed winning the Money In The Bank contract would secure an easy route back to the gold. He cashed in and inserted himself in the Seth Rollins vs. Damian Priest match on the same night that he won the briefcase… but his enemy CM Punk would once again prove to be a deciding factor.
Punk arrived to attack McIntyre, costing him the match and squandering his Money In The Bank opportunity. McIntyre therefore became the first wrestler ever to cash in the briefcase on the same night and lose it.
