  • Randy Orton opens the show to discuss his win over Cody Rhodes at Sunday Night’s Main Event. Orton says Rhodes, in front of his friends and family, showed everyone who he is: a good man. He says it takes a lot from you to kill legends, but while Rhodes is a good man, Orton isn’t, and he won’t hesitate to end whoever’s in his way ahead of his 15th Championship. He then warns CM Punk and Sami Zayn that he’s coming for them.
  • Finn Balor is backstage with Nick Aldis discussing his next steps towards the WWE Championship, flanked by Danhausen in the background cleaning the TV. Gunther appears and tells Balor he should’ve retired and that his best days are behind him. As he leaves, Balor calls him a name, causing Gunther to return. As Gunther attempts to get into his face, Balor hits him and lays him out.
  • Following their loss to the War Raiders, Damian Priest helps R-Truth off the mat. Priest raised Truth’s hand and then clotheslined him, turning heel.

Sami Zayn Beats CM Punk, Becomes Two-Time WWE Undisputed Champion

In a year of twists and turns in the WWE Championship picture, WWE threw us another curveball in Mexico City. After weeks of perceived slights and no opportunities, Sami Zayn beat CM Punk to win the WWE Undisputed Championship for a second time, thanks to the unintended assistance of Johnny Gargano and Kevin Owens.

No one expected Punk to drop the title this soon, but Zayn as champion presents a much clearer path forward for all competitors to win as opposed to a Punk defeat. Owens seems to be the most likely foil for Zayn based on their history, but with so many in the mix, the year of firsts is upon us, and we may be in a hot potato championship mix for the next few months on the road to Survivor Series and beyond.

Damian Priest’s Heel Turn Puts Him In Prime Spot To Enter WWE Championship Picture

I know you might be thinking that the WWE Championship picture is already crowded enough, but it’s filled with competitors that, for the most part, are around the same stature and weight class. With the heel turn in place, Damian Priest can now enter the picture as a monstrous heel, ready for his next title run.

A former World Heavyweight Champion, Priest has been somewhat floundering since his exit from The Judgment Day in 2024, directionless and without a proper push. Another darker incarnation of Priest is exactly what he needs to become a presence in a crowded field, one that will allow him to dominate the other players in the game in a way that’s both violent and bruising.
