NJPW G1 Climax 36 Night 15 Results: Yuya Uemura moves to ten points, all B Block members alive – POST Wrestling

Everyone is still alive in the B Block as the G1 Climax winds down with one more round-robin show remaining for each side.

Tuesday’s G1 Climax show in Saorina in front of 2,310 presented “must-win” scenarios for multiple wrestlers. Zack Sabre Jr., Drilla Moloney, and Aaron Wolf were facing elimination, but each won their matches to stay alive as the B Block round-robin stage concludes Thursday at Korakuen Hall.

Drilla Moloney’s round-robin matches are complete as he was set to face the injured Shota Umino on Thursday’s show. He finishes the tournament with a 5-4 record with ten points and is eligible to be among the top two to advance to the semi-finals.

Thursday’s main event featured Yuya Uemura extending his point total to ten with a victory against Gabe Kidd. The lengthiest match of the night saw Kidd open up an existing wound on Uemura’s chest from chops and had a busted mouth from strikes. Uemura countered by attacking Kidd’s left arm. Uemura kicked out from the Drill-a-Hole piledriver and thwarted an attempted Paradigm Shift before executing a hip throw and catching Kidd with a standard cradle for the pin.

Aaron Wolf needed a win against Callum Newman and kept his tournament hopes alive with a submission victory. Newman spit at Wolf on the floor, and the gold medalist came back with Judo throws, including a nasty one on the edge of the apron. The match climaxed with a counter by Wolf into a Canadian Destroyer that impressed the crowd. He hit an Angle Slam and applied the Inverted Triangle for the submission as they hit the peak really effectively. Wolf has proven many doubters wrong throughout the G1 and hung in big match scenarios.

Drilla Moloney overcame the House of Torture and earned another two points against Ren Narita. Yoshinobu Kanemaru attacked Moloney during his entrance before they settled into the match. The House of Torture was minimized until Moloney hit a Gore, and Dick Togo yanked the referee out of the ring and attacked Moloney with Kanemaru. Moloney sent the two into one another but allowed Narita to hit a low blow. Togo threw powder, missed Moloney, and struck Narita’s eyes as Moloney landed a superkick and Drilla Killa to win.

The match of the night and a candidate for match of the tournament was reserved for Zack Sabre Jr. and HENARE. This match was off the charts with the power of HENARE against the submission prowess of ZSJ. ZSJ wore down HENARE’s arm and shoulder, forcing the United Empire member to battle with one arm. Zack executed kicks to the injured shoulder and hit a beautiful Tornado DDT. Zack’s ribs were injured from a Berserker Bomb and other varied offense. HENARE tried to powerbomb his way out of a Triangle, but Zack locked it tighter and was hoisted onto HENARE’s shoulders. This allowed Zack to wrench on the arm from the shoulders and take HENARE to the mat for the armbar submission. It was stated this was HENARE’s first submission loss in four years. This was a stellar match and the highest of recommendations.
