Nick Aldis’ Next WWE Feud Revealed

At SummerSlam, after over three years of being out of the wrestling ring as a performer, Nick Aldis made his triumphant return. Although Aldis lost his WWE debut to Gunther, the former SmackDown General Manager was very impressive in everything from his cool Oasis entrance music, his jacked physique, and his great in-ring talent. After the show, Triple H reinstated Aldis as the boss of the blue brand. With reports out there that his WWE wrestling career could continue, a new opportunity has emerged for Aldis’ second feud. This time, it’s one he’ll win.

Nick Aldis Hadn’t Lost a Step in His Great SummerSlam Match With Gunther

When Triple H introduced Nick Aldis as the new SmackDown GM three years ago, much of the WWE Universe had no idea who the guy was. With his muscles bulging out of his bright blue suits, and his take no crap from anyone attitude, Aldis quickly became a fan favorite. There were rumors multiple times of a WWE match for the GM, and if you knew his background you understood. In another life, Aldis was a world champion in both TNA and NWA, a man who once beat Cody Rhodes, and who was still in his 30s.

As the guy in charge of SmackDown, Nick Aldis showed no fear. This included with Gunther, who often blamed the GM for all of his failures. When Gunther finally snapped and attacked the GM, Aldis returned to get his revenge at Saturday Night’s Main Event. At SummerSlam, fans knew Aldis wouldn’t win his first WWE match. The anticipation was there to see if he still had it, and for those who had never seen him compete, to see what he was capable of. In the end, Aldis did lose, but he looked like a WWE superstar. And as he celebrated with his wife Mickie James and their son, it sure didn’t seem like this was the end.

WrestleVotes Radio is told that internally, it is believed that Nick Aldis will compete again in WWE following his performance at SummerSlam.

However, one source noted that Aldis might not get to wrestle again until 2027. The source added that a number of people backstage believe that Aldis is as talented — if not more talented — than several of WWE’s regular television performers and would like to see him have a significant in-ring run with the company.

Nick Aldis and Sami Zayn Are Not Getting Along on SmackDown

• Aldis shouldn’t just be a GM and needs to wrestle again as soon as possible.

There is no need to wait until 2027 for Nick Aldis to wrestle again. That’s five months away. He’s already shown how great he still is, and although he’s entertaining as a GM, he shouldn’t be limited. This doesn’t mean his next feud should be forced either. It has to make sense from a storyline perspective. Thankfully, a feud that could be even more interesting than Gunther is right there.

Sami Zayn has been brilliant with his whiny heel character. After complaining for months about being held back, he finally won his first WWE Championship at Night of Champions. Just nine days later, he lost to the unannounced CM Punk. Since then, Zayn has been raging about the unfairness of it all. In his mind, the injustices only kept going at SummerSlam. In what was supposed to be a WWE Championship number one contender’s match with Finn Balor, Nick Aldis came out and not only added Gunther but Kevin Owens. Zayn sold the shock perfectly, and minutes later, K.O. was the winner.

On SmackDown, Zayn went off backstage not only on his real life best friend, but the General Manager, telling Nick Aldis:

“How many times do you expect me to stand by on the sidelines while you screw me? No, no, you did. Because here’s the thing. I would still be WWE Champion right now if it wasn’t for you, Nick, at the 11th hour, finding CM Punk. I would be the number one contender right now if you, at the 11th hour, didn’t add Gunther into the match. And it’s hard for me to think that you didn’t do this one on purpose. At the 11th hour, you add Kevin Owens?”

Sami Zayn Can Afford To Lose a Match in Nick Aldis’ First WWE Victory

• Zayn will likely cost Kevin Owens in his WWE Championship match with CM Punk.
• Aldis will have to do something about Zayn’s behavior.
• Aldis can get a big win as fans watch Zayn get his comeuppance.

Nick Aldis took it, not getting angry or annoyed, but with a slight smirk on his face. He doesn’t like Sami Zayn, and he doesn’t take him seriously. Zayn is not going to put up with that. He’ll most likely screw over Kevin Owens when he gets his WWE Championship match with CM Punk. After that, Aldis is going to have to get involved and do something about his whiny superstar. A promo won’t do it. A suspension won’t either. The best way to shut Sami Zayn up is to defeat him in the ring.

When Nick Aldis comes back, it has to be for a win. Losing his first match to Gunther was understandable and expected. There can’t be a second. A feud with Zayn allows for the easy-to-hate bad guy to get his comeuppance, while Aldis gets to be the badass babyface who shuts him up. Gunther couldn’t afford another defeat. Zayn can. He’d for sure make Aldis look good, and it would set his own character on a new path. Don’t wait until 2027 for Nick Aldis’ second match, WWE. It’s there, ready right now, with Sami Zayn.
