WWE Has Ruined Dominik Mysterio

Dominik Mysterio was a red hot prospect in WWE last year and one of the younger stars in WWE who was getting the biggest and best reactions from the crowd. Showered in gold across both WWE and AAA and beating some big names, things were looking up for Mysterio in WWE… until everything came crashing down in 2026. With a few injuries, losing his Intercontinental Championship, and being presented like an absolute joke, Mysterio has gone from someone on the periphery of a potential main event push to someone who is struggling to even score a win on WWE programming. It is safe to say that WWE has ruined Dominik Mysterio.

Dominik Mysterio Was On Fire In WWE

• Mysterio’s heel work was amongst WWE’s best.
• Mysterio’s feuds with Rey Mysterio & John Cena were leading him up the card.
• Many fans wanted to see Mysterio elevated to the next level in WWE.

Ever since his heel turn in 2022, Dominik Mysterio established himself as arguably WWE’s best pure heel. Fans hated him, his performances were flawless as an arrogant young heel on the mic, and there was investment in his matches despite him not being an elite in-ring worker. His partnership with Rhea Ripley was electric, The Judgment Day was red hot, his rivalry with father Rey Mysterio is still the best work of his entire career, and he was littered with gold after an all-timer Intercontinental Title win at WrestleMania 41 and becoming the AAA Mega Champion after getting massively over in Mexico.

In 2025, Mysterio was his most over yet, with fans both loving and hating him. He picked up a huge win over John Cena at Survivor Series 2025, which many assumed would lead him to even bigger and better things… but 2026 has been a disaster.

2026 Has Been A Terrible Year For Dominik Mysterio

• Mysterio lost the Intercontinental Title.
• His AAA Mega Championship reign has no real prevalence on WWE TV.
• He has had no memorable feuds in WWE.

An injury derailed some of Dominik Mysterio’s 2026 momentum, but there was no reason for WWE to completely lose faith in him upon his return. For much of this year he has been feuding with comedy act Danhausen, whose “curse” led to him losing the Intercontinental Championship. From there, Mysterio and fellow members of The Judgment Day have been in a comedy feud for FIVE MONTHS, getting embarrassed by Danhausen, the Minihausens, and Joe Hendry, looking weaker and weaker each week. To make matters worse, Mysterio is supposed to be the number one guy in AAA, so to have him lose terrible matches and be made out to be a joke does no favors for his standing as a world champion.

2026 has been Mysterio’s worst year yet, and with him losing in one of the worst matches of the year at SummerSlam 2026 Sunday, and with him likely set to lose the AAA Mega Title against El Grande Americano, things aren’t looking good for the rest of this remaining year.

Triple H Has Ruined Dominik Mysterio With Terrible Booking

• Mysterio is presented as a joke act on WWE TV.
• His feud with Danhausen was an absolute disgrace of a program.
• Mysterio’s potential is being destroyed by the week.

There is only one person to blame for the descent of Dominik Mysterio, and that is Triple H. The head of WWE’s creative team had lightning in a bottle that was desperate to ignite through the whole sky, but instead he threw it down a hole and buried it. On the likes of WWE Unreal, it is often said by the likes of Triple H that getting the audience invested and getting over is pivotal to getting booked and handed success… but that is not true for Mysterio.

The young star looked dejected and void of interest in what he’s doing on WWE programming right now, which is understandable. He still puts in strong work and helps to make everything as good as it can be, but his most recent feud with Danhausen which has dominated this past year has been dire for his momentum, potential, and future. With WWE’s main eventers and upper midcarders getting older and older, it is important for WWE to build a new set of stars to carry the company into the future, and Mysterio is among the likes of Oba Femi, Bron Breakker, Jacob Fatu and Trick Williams in the men’s division that have the best connection with the fans and need to be booked as good as possible. Mysterio is now falling behind.
