Bret Hart Criticises WWE’s Match Direction And Calls Out Bruce Prichard Wrestling News Source – Latest WWE, AEW, Pro Wrestling News, Sunday Night’s Main Event Results

Bret Hart has criticised the people directing WWE’s wrestlers, questioning their knowledge of the business and taking a shot at Bruce Prichard.

Speaking to Inside The Ropes, Hart compared that approach with the freedom he enjoyed during his own WWE career. He explained that Vince McMahon decided the results and sometimes specified the finishing move, but often trusted the wrestlers to work out the details.

“Vince tells you who wins and who loses, but the endings of the matches are between the wrestlers most of the time.”

Hart said McMahon could instruct him to win with the Sharpshooter, but much of what happened before that was his responsibility. He included two of his most celebrated matches among those he helped shape.

“A lot of times when you see the match unfold, at least my matches, those are Bret Hart matches, including the WrestleMania 13, including the Iron Man match.”

However, Hart also acknowledged the contributions of his opponents. He credited Roddy Piper with much of their match and described his work with Mr. Perfect and The Undertaker as an equal partnership.

“There’s a few matches where I’ll give credit to the guy that I worked with, like Roddy Piper. I give him most of the credit for the match I had with him. Being Mr. Perfect was like a 50/50. Most of my matches with Undertaker were 50/50.”

When it came to Owen Hart and Davey Boy Smith, Hart said he took responsibility for planning the action from start to finish.

“My matches I had with Owen, with Davey, those are all Bret Hart matches. That’s me figuring out the whole match from A to Z.”

Recalling his match at Wembley Stadium, Hart shared an exchange that illustrated McMahon’s confidence in him. When he offered to explain the finish, McMahon preferred to watch it unfold.

“I remember telling Vince, I said, ‘You want to hear the ending?’ And he goes, ‘I don’t want to hear it. I just want to see it.’”

Hart believes that trust played a significant role in the quality of his matches.

“I had carte blanche on my, I had total control on my endings of my matches, which is why I think my matches were so good.”

Turning to WWE today, Hart questioned whether the people giving talent instructions were qualified to do so.

“Maybe that’s why WWE is having the problem they are, is they have all these idiots telling people how to wrestle when they don’t know how to wrestle themselves.”

The comment drew applause from the audience before Hart singled out longtime WWE executive Bruce Prichard.

“And Bruce Prichard too, he doesn’t know.”

Hart’s remarks made his view clear: trusting wrestlers to put their own matches together was central to his success, and he sees problems with the direction talent receives today.
