The first ever Sunday Night’s Main Event is officially in the history books as WWE headed to the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on September 6, 2026. The show featured some blockbuster matchups such as the first meeting between Oba Femi and Bron Breakker, the next chapter in the story of Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton, plus more through the night!

TheSportster’s rating system will take a look across every match at this edition of Sunday Night’s Main Event to determine the best match on the card, the weakest showcase on the night, and how everything else stacked up in between.

Baron Corbin Vs. Lil Yachty (5-Minute Challenge)

Overall Rating From TheSportster: 4.25/10

In order to earn Trick Williams a rematch for the United States Title he lost at SummerSlam, Lil Yachty needed to last five minutes against Baron Corbin. The began in a decent manner, with Yachty taking a cheap shot on Corbin with a mic before attempting to run away. His entourage attempted to take him away, leading to Corbin attacking his people and dragging Yachty back to the ring.

Yachty came back with a kendo stick attack which got the crowd on their feet, but Corbin continued swatting him away. With the crowd hot behind him, Yachty nailed a hurricanrana and crossbody, only to run right into an End Of Days… only for some reason Corbin didn’t go for the pinfall. He brought a table to the ring, allowing Yachty to hit a low blow and survive the time limit in one of the worst and illogical endings you’ll see.

Baron Corbin Vs. Trick Williams (United States Championship)

Overall Rating From TheSportster: 5.5/10

Given that Corbin had already had a match on this show, the best option would be for Trick Williams to show up and quickly beat Corbin for the US Title. Instead they had a drawn out match that featured a bland segment of Corbin dominance. Williams had some flurries throughout which got the crowd on their feet, but Corbin continued to stop him in his tracks in a match that was no better than their previous showcases.

Williams continued to show resilience and kick out of Corbin’s offense, even surviving after Corbin used the title belt as a weapon. He went on to reverse an End Of Days before hitting the Trick Shot to win back the United States Championship he lost last month.

Charlotte Flair, Tatum Paxley & Alexa Bliss Vs. Jade Cargill, Michin & B-Fab

Overall Rating From TheSportster: 6.25/10

Six women who have had bad blood building up for several months finally met in trios action at Sunday Night’s Main Event. The early stages of the match saw Tatum Paxley continue to stand out, Alexa Bliss run wild, and Jade Cargill display her dangerous strength, with both teams getting a chance to shine. The heels soon slowed things down in an extended beatdown on Bliss, all leading to a crowd-pleasing hot tag for Flair.

Cargill & Flair collided in a decent sequence, ending with Flair & Paxley attempting to lock in duelling Figure Eights, only for Paxley to get kicked into Flair, colliding inadvertently to allow Cargill the opening to hit Jaded on Flair to win. The match was fine and served a purpose, but it was nothing overly special.

Randy Orton Vs. Cody Rhodes

Overall Rating From TheSportster: 6.5/10

This WrestleMania 42 rematch began strongly, with Randy Orton failing a sneak attack which prompted a brawl into the crowd. They made their way back to the ring, with Orton exerting early control as he methodically picked apart his enemy. Rhodes fought his way back into the match after Orton traded verbal jibes with Brandi Rhodes at ringside, as both men traded momentum.

The pair went back-and-forth with finishers as the crowd got more invested, quickening up the action before the referee fell victim to an accidental collision. Orton went for a punt, but Rhodes ducked out of the way and proceeded to issue an unhinged beatdown to his former mentor, showing new signs of aggression as he bloodied his opponent. Rhodes would then go for a punt kick, though showed hesitation before pulling the trigger, allowing Orton the opening to beg for mercy and hit a low blow to both Rhodes and the referee before nailing an RKO for an overbooked and messy win.

Oba Femi Vs. Bron Breakker

Overall Rating From TheSportster: 7.25/10

Two men who have staked their claim as the “future” of WWE met for the first time ever at Sunday Night’s Main Event in a showdown which could headline WrestleMania in years to come. A feeling out process and trading of displays of strength opened up this match, carrying the crowd in the palm of their hands. The tide was turned upon Breakker’s big clothesline across the announce table, slowing down the match and dominating Femi more than he’s ever been on the main roster thus far.

Femi eventually fought his way back into contention, displaying his explosive style which rocked Breakker. Momentum continued to get traded, leading to two earth-shattering collisions on the outside of the ring, one of which saw Breakker deliver a big spear to Femi. Breakker brought Femi back into the ring for another spear… only to get a two count. The Vision members came out to interfere, handing Breakker some brass knuckles. Unfortunately, the match halted when Bronson Reed returned and attacked Femi, causing a DQ.
