John Cena has teased that WWE already has all the details in place for the upcoming John Cena Classic, but fans will have to wait a little longer before learning what the company has planned.

Cena announced the new tournament at WWE Backlash, revealing that it will feature WWE main roster Superstars competing alongside talent from NXT.

The concept comes with an unusual twist. Rather than crowning the champion purely through wins and losses, fans will have a say in deciding the eventual winner through voting.

WWE has remained quiet about the John Cena Classic since the initial announcement, leaving plenty of questions surrounding the competitors, format and schedule.

During an appearance at Fan Expo Canada, Cena was asked if he could provide an update. While he was unable to reveal the details, he confirmed that plans have been worked out behind the scenes.

“I can’t say nothing right now. Normally, I want say, ‘We’re figuring out all the details.’ I’ll say this, we have all the details. You just have to hang in there with me because they want me to keep it a secret until it’s time to say it. We have a lot of information we’re going to dump on you, it just ain’t going to be today,” he said.

Cena’s comments suggest WWE is preparing to reveal considerably more about the tournament when the time is right.

It has been reported that WWE is currently targeting December for the John Cena Classic, although the timing remains subject to change.

Cena has previously compared the concept to WWE’s version of an All-Star game, potentially giving fans the opportunity to see matchups between main roster and NXT talent that would not normally happen.

With Cena confirming that the details are already in place, attention now turns to when WWE will officially reveal the competitors, voting system and full format.
