AJ Styles explains how son Avery will benefit from joining TNA
Joining TNA Wrestling is an important step in the young career of Avery Styles.
It was announced at Lockdown 2026 that Avery Styles has signed with TNA, joining the company that his legendary father helped put on the map. AJ Styles discussed the news on his podcast this week and explained how TNA will help Avery’s development. Avery will continue to take independent wrestling dates, and adding TNA to that gives him the chance to work for a TV promotion where he’ll learn how to hit his time cues and work around commercial breaks.
“He’s going to do independents, and he’s definitely doing TNA,” AJ Styles said. “TNA gets him the reps that he needs on television. You need these reps on television because you have to hit times. You have a certain time limit to hit these things before the commercial break and then you have a certain time after you come back that you’ve got to hit…
“I’m a stickler of, ‘Hit your time. You’re a professional. Do your job.’ So being at TNA will help him hit his times.”
Still a teenager, Avery Styles is only a couple of months into his wrestling career. He’s entering the business in the same year as his father retired from the ring, though AJ Styles has left the door open to return for one more match down the line and team with his children. AJ Styles now works behind the scenes in WWE/NXT after retirement.
Avery’s early career has already had some controversy regarding paying dues. GCW promoter Brett Lauderdale has spoken highly of Avery’s talent and believes that he will learn from any mistakes that he makes as he continues to grow in his wrestling journey. His upcoming indie shows include Wrestling Revolver’s Jerry Lynn Invitational this October.
TNA debut of Avery Styles —
Following Lockdown, Avery had his first match at TNA’s television tapings in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. He lost to Brian Myers in what appeared to be a dark match.
Avery is involved in a TV storyline where the heel Frankie Kazarian, claiming to have Avery’s best interest at heart, is acting as his mentor.
