Grayson Waller overcomes EK Prosper in lengthy NXT Title Open Challenge matchup – POST Wrestling

EK Prosper went a lengthy 20 minutes in his first-ever NXT title challenge, but ultimately came up short.

High-flying Prosper answered an open challenge by NXT Champion Grayson Waller on Tuesday night, a matchup that was made after original Waller opponent Mason Rook withdrew from this week’s card after not getting medically cleared.

A lengthy battle, which included a springboard moonsault through a commentary desk, saw Prosper put up quite a fight against the champ. In the end, a pair of rolling stunners from Waller sealed the deal, continuing his run on top of the Tuesday night brand.

It was heavily teased during the broadcast that either Zilla Fatu or Cruz Montana would end up being the one facing Waller for the title tonight. They both found themselves caught up in a massive brawl at ringside on Tuesday along with countless other members of the NXT roster who wanted to answer the challenge.

Prosper, a former Reality of Wrestling talent who has been on NXT programming since late 2025, is still waiting for his first title reign on the show. He has previously challenged for the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship and WWE Speed Championship as well.

The makeshift team of WWE ID talent Chazz Starboy and AAA’s Mini Vikingo scored an upset win of sorts, defeating Birthright’s Stacks and Uriah Connors in a hectic, fast-paced showdown. Mini Vikingo, who has been making waves in Mexico at the age of just 18, scored the pinfall with a 630 senton off the top.

The other tournament match saw former NXT Tag Team Champions Fraxiom beat Cutler James and Osiris Griffin of DarkState. Being a decorated main roster duo with deep ties to NXT, Fraxiom are likely to be favorites as the bracket continues.

Tuesday’s show opened with Zaria retaining her NXT Women’s North American Championship, putting away former titleholder Thea Hail with an F5. Her focus will shift to the main title program next week when she appears in a 20-woman #1 contenders battle royal.
