What is the Payout For the Title Fight?

Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn are fighting for a lucrative purse with the WBC welterweight title on the line.

On Saturday, Sept. 12, Garcia defends his title against Benn at the T-Mobile Arena, both fighters being reported to earn eight-figure salaries no matter who ends up with the belt.

Benn and Garcia have earned big purses in their past fights but the British star’s move to Zuffa has already been the most he has earned despite his blockbuster fights against Chris Eubank.

The amount mentioned is being supported by Saudi adviser Turki Alalshikh and is expected to be split equally between the two boxers. Since neither Garcia nor Benn has officially confirmed that they will each receive a guaranteed $15 million fee for the title match on Saturday, the figure should still be regarded as reported and not as official.

For Benn, on the other hand, the figure would be understandable in view of what he has already said about fighting Garcia.

Until the fight was settled, Benn stated that he would have very little interest in taking it on unless the money got up to $15 million.

Benn said that he would fight anyone and that if someone offered him fifteen million dollars there would be no problem, but apart from money he had no motivation for the fight.

Benn is already acquainted with that kind of money since his victory in April against the former world champion Regis Prograis is said to have brought him as much as $15 million in his first match under the Zuffa Boxing banner; he won that fight by unanimous decision before entering into a longer-term agreement with the promotion.

Garcia Has Already Made Around $30 Million For One Fight

A payday of $15 million would be huge for the majority of fighters, but Garcia has already said that he once earned twice that amount in one night.

Garcia stated tha t he had earned about $30 million from his 2023 blockbuster fight against Gervonta “Tank” Davis, the match having attracted more than 1.1 million pay-per-view viewers and over $22 million in gate receipts, which made Garcia one of boxing’s most commercially successful figures even though he suffered a knockout loss in the seventh round.

The financial arrangement in the fight on Saturday is different since, instead of Garcia getting the much larger share, the purse is said to be split equally.

Benn comes into the fight with a record of 25 wins to 1 and 14 knockouts, whereas Garcia has 25 wins and 2 losses with 20 stoppage victories. Garcia won the WBC welterweight title when he beat Mario Barrios in February and will fight Benn for the first time to defend it.

Both fighters bring a huge audience with Garcia being the bigger star of the two. The winner will have the opportunity to fight for another mega payday in a title unification fight against Devin Haney.
