Mercedes Moné puts Willow Nightingale to sleep, captures AEW Women’s World Championship at All In 2026 – POST Wrestling

Mercedes Moné’s first-ever reign as AEW Women’s World Champion has officially begun.

A gruelling, bloody brawl went the way of Moné after nearly 22 minutes, taking down Willow Nightingale to capture the top women’s title in the company. The result was the co-main event for All In, which took place at Wembley Stadium in London, England on Sunday.

Defending champ Nightingale entered Sunday with a significant disadvantage, having an injured left hand. The cast around her hand became a target for Moné throughout the match, stomping, twisting and bashing the injury to try and weaken the champ.

A bump late in the match took out referee Aubrey Edwards, leaving her unavailable to count pinfalls or submissions for some time. Nightingale secured her Babe with the Powerbomb finisher at this point, but a delayed count from Edwards allowed Moné to stay in the match.

The bout remained back-and-forth even in its final minutes. After powerbombing Moné into an exposed turnbuckle, Nightingale tried for the move again, this time off the middle rope. The attempt was countered by Moné into a hurricanrana. She followed up with a backstabber, but then Nightingale countered the next move into a backslide pin attempt.

Another powerbomb from Nightingale was reversed into a Statement Maker submission from Moné, which put the champ to sleep and stopped the bout.

Nightingale and Moné have a long history together, with Sunday being their fourth time facing off in a title showdown.

Their first meeting, as part of a 2023 NJPW card, saw Nightingale score an upset win over Moné. A foot injury caused Moné to unexpectedly lose in an NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship showdown against a rising Nightingale.

They would rematch a year later, a result which saw Moné end Nightingale’s first run with the TBS Championship. Moné’s record-setting run with the belt, lasting a year and a half, would be put to an end by Nightingale on AEW’s New Year’s Eve 2025 edition of Dynamite.

Moné earned a world title opportunity by winning the Owen Hart Cup for the second straight year. While she was originally expected to face Thekla as part of All In, Nightingale took the belt off her at AEW’s Dynasty pay-per-view in Montreal earlier this year. 

It was announced that Moné will have a championship celebration on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite.
