Irish police are hoping to speak with UFC fighter Conor McGregor as part of an ongoing perjury case, the Daily Star reported on Friday.

Shortly after two perjury arrests were made in relation to a former McGregor civil case, local media are reporting that the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (NBCI) have made attempts to speak with the ex-UFC champ.

The Daily Star wrote this week that police tried to contact McGregor last September and in June 2026, but have been unable to reach him thus far.

The report also states that authorities seized the phone of a McGregor associate and spoke to them as part of the investigation.

Last week, 38-year-old Samantha O’Reilly and 39-year-old Steven Cummins appeared before a Dublin District Court to face perjury charges linked to sworn statements they made in the 2025 appeal for the civil trial against McGregor.

McGregor was found liable in a civil case for sexually assaulting Dublin hairdresser Nikita Hand during a December 2018 encounter, awarding her €248,603 in damages.

The MMA star’s team attempted to counter part of Hand’s evidence by submitting new sworn statements during the appeal process, focusing on possible other reasons for how Hand had bruising on her body following McGregor’s late-night encounter with her.

O’Reilly and Cummins, then-neighbours of Hand, agreed to produce statements in relation to the case. A statement from O’Reilly said that he saw Hand’s former partner move in a way that suggested he was kicking or hitting her. Cummins recalled hearing screaming and shouting inside Hand’s home the night that she had come back from a time with McGregor.

While McGregor’s legal team had put together an application to submit the new information, they later suddenly pulled both sworn statements from the case. Not long after, Irish courts opened an investigation into the statements, curious as to why such potentially case-shifting evidence would be abruptly thrown away.

Hand has denied that her former partner assaulted her.

McGregor would later lose his appeal, with a further challenge in the Irish Supreme Court being denied by late last year.
