Mustafa Ali may currently be suffering from broken ribs and a punctured lung, but there is at least one person in TNA who feels he’s headed to the main event picture.

Ali suffered the injuries during his match with Jason Hotch at TNA Lockdown on Sunday. While he’s canceled some upcoming bookings, it does not appear as though TNA will be stripping him of the International Championship.

On the most recent edition of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Matt Hardy teased that Ali could be headed to the main event picture in TNA. His co-host Jon Alba suggested that Ali is someone the company could put in a main event program, and Hardy responded that Alba will probably like where things are going.

“He’s put in his 15 years. He’s ready to main event now.

“I think with what you said, you’re going to be happy with how all this plays out. But yes, I mean, he’s great. And still, like I told him, keep doing what you’re doing. I love the work he’s doing as a heel, but he’s destined to end up being a big babyface before it’s all said and done, too.”

“His character work is off the charts. He’s really locked in.”

Mustafa Ali in TNA Wrestling

Ali regained the International Championship from Hotch at Lockdown. Hotch had taken the title from him on the July 30 TNA Impact episode in Philadelphia. Ali’s first run with the belt began at Rebellion in April when he defeated Trey Miguel for it.
