Leon Slater Wins X-Division Title, Retains TNA History

The scariest thing any wrestler can face in their career is being erased from history. That will not apply in Leon Slater’s case, as the former and new X-Division Champion will remain in the history books and now carry a second run with the title.

At TNA Lockdown on Sunday, Slater faced Cedric Alexander for his former championship in a Last Man Standing steel cage match. Alexander held the lead in the beginning of the match by sending Slater face-first into the steel cage. After taking multiple boots to the face, Slater turned the tide around by slamming the former champion with a Standing Blue Thunderbomb. Collecting his thoughts, Alexander drove Slater off the top turnbuckle with a Michinoku Driver. Pulling whatever tricks he had left in his sleeve, Slater was successful over Alexander by connecting three back-to-back Lumbar Checks, followed by a Swanton 450. With Alexander unable to stand by the ninth count, Slater walked out of Chicago as the two-time X-Division Champion.

Beginning at Slammiversary 2025, Slater beat Moose to start his first reign as X-Division Champion. Though making history as its longest titleholder at 20-years-old and having a 298 single day reign (tying with former TNA/Impact star Austin Aries), Alexander interfered in Slater’s plans on becoming the first-ever 300-day singles reign champion on the May 14 edition of “TNA Impact.”
