Backstage Reaction Reported Over Bayley Video Amid WWE Contract Speculation

Speculation surrounding Bayley’s WWE future has picked up again, but a potential move to AEW does not appear to be happening anytime soon.

Bayley’s current WWE contract is reportedly approaching its final months, which has naturally led to questions over what could come next for the former WWE Women’s Champion. Those rumors gained further attention after Bayley shared a training montage featuring several wrestlers, including AEW star and longtime friend Mercedes Moné.

Adding another layer to the speculation was Bayley’s choice of music for the video, with the montage featuring a track titled “All In.” Given AEW’s association with the All In name and her history with Moné, fans were quick to wonder whether the post contained a deliberate tease.

However, the video may have attracted some attention behind the scenes in WWE as well.

Fightful noted comments from WrestleVotes suggesting there has been no significant new development regarding Bayley’s contractual situation, although the social media post apparently caught the attention of some within the company.

“While Wrestle Votes on Fightful Select does not have a substantial update on Bayley’s contract status with WWE, they’ve learned that the social media video she posted did not ‘land well with everyone.’ It was relayed that the video she posted of highlights of her training at different locations with different wrestlers, including Mercedes Mone, was viewed by some backstage as ‘eyebrow-raising.’”

Despite the growing online discussion, Bryan Alvarez has pushed back on the idea that Bayley could be heading to AEW in time for All In.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Alvarez said people he has spoken with inside AEW are also unsure what to make of the recent teasing. According to his information, Bayley remains under WWE contract for potentially several more months.

“I can tell you that, at least amongst those within AEW – first off, everyone I talked to is also baffled by this whole thing. But the belief is that her deal is not up for a while. Maybe as long as January, and that is if they don’t add any time.

“So, long story short, she ain’t going to be at All In. And I don’t know why her and Mercedes are teasing a match at All In, but it ain’t going to happen.”

If that timetable proves accurate, Bayley would remain contracted to WWE beyond AEW All In, seemingly ruling out any possibility of her appearing at the event. There is also the possibility that additional time could be added to her existing WWE deal, depending on the terms of her contract.

For now, Bayley’s long-term future remains uncertain, but the combination of her contract situation, her friendship with Moné and the reaction to her latest social media activity has ensured plenty of attention will remain on what she does next.
