Official WWE Update Suggests Brock Lesnar Really Might Be Done

Brock Lesnar lost to Oba Femi inside Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam, and much like the days after WrestleMania, the wrestling world is now wondering whether we have seen the last of The Beast inside the squared circle. There have been conflicting reports, but WWE just did something that makes Lesnar’s potential retirement feel a little more official.

Brock Lesnar Moved To WWE’s Alumni Section

As of today, Lesnar’s profile can be found in the alumni section on WWE’s website. It’s something a lot of fans watch very closely, and it’s typically indicative of a real change in a wrestler’s status. Whether that change is that the Superstar has been released, left the company, or, in Lesnar’s case, potentially retired.

It’s not a guarantee, though. WWE has been known to manipulate fans by moving profiles to the alumni section, knowing that someone will spot it and the word will spread quickly. It’s also possible that even though Lesnar has given WWE the impression that he won’t ever wrestle again, he might change his mind in the future and return for more matches.

Even Triple H wants fans to think that there’s a sense of mystery now surrounding Lesnar’s status. One of the first questions asked of The Game after Femi beat The Beast was whether this time, Lesnar really has retired. Triple H implied that he assumed so, but laced the answer with enough uncertainty that it wasn’t a firm response one way or the other.

I wouldn’t be surprised if that wasn’t an act. I assume that Lesnar effectively leaves the arena as soon as his match is done and heads home. He may have done that directly after his SummerSlam match and not talked to anyone in WWE since, nor given an indication of what he plans on doing moving forward, if anything.

SummerSlam Was The Perfect Place For Lesnar To Retire

My issue with Lesnar potentially wrestling again after this is if that match at SummerSlam wasn’t the perfect way to say goodbye, then what would be? One of WWE’s biggest stars of the last 25 years, putting over a rising star inside Hell in a Cell, not only in the main event of one of the biggest shows of the year, but a show that’s synonymous with some of Lesnar’s biggest victories, and in front of a hometown crowd.

There is every chance Lesnar wrestles again, but if he does, I think WWE will have squandered the work he has done with Femi from WrestleMania until now. Femi is a made man and can be a huge star for the next two decades, and that career should be built on the back of retiring Lesnar.
