Chad Gable Finally Wins The Intercontinental Championship
It’s amazing what a year’s time can do to change the tides in a career, and Chad Gable is the greatest example in recent wrestling history to prove this. After years of trying, Gable made Penta tap out to win his first singles championship in WWE and became the Intercontinental Champion.
After an injury sidelined him as El Grande Americano, he became involved in one of the best AAA and WWE storylines in modern memory, and has undergone a career renaissance in his quest to win back his friends and claim what’s been eluding him for years. Sitting at the top of multiple feel-good moments throughout Night 2, Chad Gable’s ascension is also the feel good story of the year, and this was the right decision.

After 12 years, the Death of the Shield no longer haunts Roman Reigns. After an incredible main event, Reigns put the chair away, and with it the fears of Seth Rollins, behind him as he retained the World Heavyweight Championship.
It was a story build 12 years in the making, with everything from a referee bump to multiple nods to their former Shield member, Jon Moxley. Reigns can now put the terror of Rollins behind him, putting to rest for good one of the longest running story threads in recent WWE history.
Kevin Owens Returns, Becomes Number One Contender For CM Punk And WWE Undisputed Championship
After a year and a half out of action, Kevin Owens returned to WWE during the opening match of SummerSlam Night 2. The Minnesota crowd went ballistic as KO was added to the number one contender’s match alongside Gunther, and was victorious after pinning his longtime friend/rival, Sami Zayn.
With a stacked deck already in the championship picture, including the returning Randy Orton, Kevin Owens throws a wrench into CM Punk and his attempts to continue his reign as WWE Undisputed Champion. Owens will now face Punk in a face off that’s yet to take place in WWE, and a significant wind shifts on Friday Night SmackDown.
Chelsea Green Wins The WWE Interim Women’s Championship, Baron Corbin Wins The United States Championship
Baron Corbin returns in a major way, winning the United States Championship from Trick Williams in his first match in WWE since 2024. Corbin, the perennial underdog and one of the best in his era, sets the United States Championship picture on fire with his win, continuing the theme of a major shake up on SmackDown.
Chelsea Green is your new WWE Interim Women’s Champion, besting four other competitors in an action-packed ladder match. After some controversial statements made during WWE Unreal about her status and position, the crowd could not have been more thrilled or excited to see her achieve a well-deserved victory, and a crowning achievement in her WWE career.
