Random WWE Wrestlers Who Had Surprisingly Perfect Chemistry!

Natural chemistry in professional wrestling is often something that cannot be taught, and WWE fans have seen time and time again over the years of two wrestlers who simply gel perfectly. It isn’t hard to imagine that legends such as Bret Hart & Shawn Michaels or CM Punk & John Cena connect well between the ropes, but there are instances of random wrestlers sparking magic in the ring in unexpected circumstances.

Whether it be perceived “bad” wrestlers, two competitors with completely opposite in-ring styles, or those who fans wouldn’t expect to steal the show, there have been multiple examples over the years of random wrestlers with surprisingly perfect chemistry in WWE.

Ryback & Kalisto

• Ryback has never been known as a good worker.
• Kalisto & Ryback could not be more different.
• They had some great clashes over the United States Title.

Ryback experienced a boom in popularity once upon a time, but he was quickly regarded as someone who wasn’t a great worker and ultimately fell down the card. In 2016, he found himself in the United States Title picture against the high-flying luchador Kalisto. On paper, these two men should have not clicked – but they did!

The best example of their natural chemistry came on the WrestleMania 32 pre-show in which they had a cracking match, following up on the Payback pre-show in another strong matchup. For whatever reason, Ryback & Kalisto were the perfect contrasts to one another.

Baron Corbin & Chad Gable

• Gable & Corbin collided in the King Of The Ring final.
• They had some strong singles matches on WWE TV.
• Gable & Corbin also had a good meeting in NXT.

Back in the semi-finals of the Dusty Rhode Tag Team Classic in 2015, Baron Corbin & Chad Gable met for the first time, showing glimpses of great chemistry. WWE finally gave them a singles match in 2019 in the finals of the King Of The Ring tournament… and it was an absolute banger!

Corbin isn’t renowned for being a top tier worker, but you wouldn’t know that against Gable. They would have a series of matches following this, all of which delivered the goods. Unfortunately, their feud would lead to the creation of the “Shorty G” gimmick, but there is no denying their perfect chemistry.

Sasha Banks & Carmella

• Carmella was not considered a strong in-ring worker in the women’s division.
• Her matches with Sasha Banks for the SmackDown Women’s Title were great.
• Banks brought the best out of Carmella.

Although her heel work between 2017 and 2018 was pretty good, Carmella was never someone renowned for her in-ring work. However, her SmackDown Women’s Title program with Sasha Banks opened the door to her best work.

On one hand it was Banks’ quality that elevated Carmella, but there is no denying that she brought her A-game in intense and technically sound matches at TLC 2020 and Royal Rumble 2021, looking like Banks’ equal in the process.

Great Khali & John Cena

• Fans consider Great Khali as one of the worst wrestlers ever.
• Cena’s run in the 2000s saw him accused of being a bad wrestler.
• Cena had Khali’s best ever matches in WWE.

The Great Khali never had a good match in WWE. However, the closest thing to a good match he ever had in the promotion was against WWE Champion John Cena, with the pair having surprisingly strong chemistry in their classes at Judgment Day and One Night Stand in 2007.

At the time, Cena was often showered in chants from the fans telling him that he couldn’t wrestle, so to see him carry Khali to serviceable matches was certainly a big surprise.

Bayley & Eva Marie

• Eva Marie has a poor reputation as a wrestler.
• Bayley & Marie wrestled in NXT.
• Bayley had the best match of Marie’s entire career.

Eva Marie is considered one of the worst women’s wrestlers to have ever stepped foot into a WWE ring, but she did actually have good chemistry with one other wrestler (just one). She stepped up to challenge Bayley for the NXT Women’s Championship in a clash which brought out the best in both her in-ring work and character performance, in what was a red hot clash.

Marie’s WWE career was full of awful matches (in both of her runs with the company), but her surprising chemistry with Bayley was undeniable.

Big Show & Mark Henry

• In WWE, big man vs. big man matches hardly ever deliver.
• The 2011 feud between Big Show & Mark Henry was great.
• Show & Henry had multiple strong PPV clashes.

Vince McMahon had an obsession with putting together big beefy men in the ring, even though this almost always led to a plodding, clumsy matchup. However, 2011 saw Big Show and Mark Henry exceed all expectations by having a match at Money In The Bank that defied their respective sizes, wrestling a match like they were each half their weight.

Henry & Show had a solid series of matches throughout the rest of the year, some of which with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line, showcasing their surprising natural chemistry.

Dolph Ziggler & The Miz

• The Miz is one of WWE’s more unsung wrestlers.
• Ziggler & Miz wrestled many times for the Intercontinental Championship.
• They also delivered strong matches in WWE.

The Miz is someone who has often been dealt with plenty of criticism due to him not being a workrate guy or someone who came the conventional way through the system. He has had some poor bouts here and there, but one man he always found magic with was Dolph Ziggler.

At multiple points over the years, Ziggler & The Miz would meet (most often for the Intercontinental Title) and deliver banger matches. The height of this came in 2016 when they had one of the best rivalries of the whole year.

Ronda Rousey & Nia Jax

• Rousey’s first WWE singles match against Jax was great.
• Despite Rousey’s inexperience, she and Jax had great chemistry.
• Jax is among Rousey’s best WWE opponents.

Ronda Rousey was someone who was not as well-trained in professional wrestling compared to others in WWE, and she did sometimes lean more on having her matches heavily rehearsed. Nia Jax is also someone who fans have a negative view on, being seen as clumsy and sloppy between the ropes. However, when put together, they delivered.

Rousey & Jax couldn’t be more different in style and stature, but their chemistry was clear. Rousey’s first singles match in WWE at Money In The Bank 2018 against Jax was a hidden gem, and again at TLC 2018 in a fun clash for the RAW Women’s Title.
