WWE 2K Might Have Competition As GTA 6 Will Include Backyard Wrestling
The world is talking about GTA 6 after Rockstar debuted almost half an hour of new gameplay from its incoming blockbuster on Netflix. Not just the gaming world, but the wrestling world too, as among the many extracurricular activities shown to exist in GTA 6’s world that players will be able to partake in was backyard wrestling.
GTA 6 Has Backyard Wrestling
It was a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, but if you were watching the Extended Look, you might have spotted Jason, one of GTA 6’s two lead protagonists, being slammed to the mat by an unnamed character in the middle of the ring in someone’s backyard. Not only were they slammed to the mat, but they were given a standing Fireman’s Carry. Or, as most wrestling fans would categorize it, an Attitude Adjustment, the finisher John Cena used for his entire 25-year career.
If you haven’t seen the Extended Look and you don’t fancy scrubbing through the whole thing to find our first glimpse at GTA 6’s wrestling mechanics, you can check out the clip below courtesy of Fightful. I would recommend watching the whole thing whenever you have the chance, though. It looks fantastic and demonstrates not only why the world is waiting for this game with bated breath, but also why it has taken Rockstar so long to make it.
The game has been in development for over a decade.
How Much Backyard Wrestling Will There Be In GTA 6?
The extent to which backyard wrestling will be included in GTA 6 remains unclear. The snippet we’ve been shown could be anything from a mini-game that briefly appears in a mission to a whole side activity you can go back to and build on for hours and hours. Considering some of the other details we now know about the game, it really wouldn’t surprise me to discover that wrestling is a fully fleshed-out side activity in GTA 6 that players can go back to as often as they like.
Regardless of how big a role it has to play in the wider game, wrestling fans have already been having fun with it. Especially since so much of the 26-minute Extended Look was seemingly dedicated to showcasing how badass Lucia, the female protagonist, is, compared to Jason. Reactions to the clip include fans saying Lucia is doing everything from shaking a four-star wanted level to robbing banks alone while Jason is blissfully unaware and entirely unhelpful, since he’s busy getting slammed into the mat in someone’s back garden.
