TNA’s Matt Hardy Explains What He’d Do If His Kids Wanted To Get Into Wrestling

Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy are both realistically in the twilight of their pro wrestling careers, and at 51 and 48, the Hardy Boyz haven’t been boys for a long time. But what could be better than a second-generation iteration of The Hardy Boyz, especially when Matt has three sons?

While the idea might sound perfect to fans, Matt isn’t as quick to open the door to pro wrestling for his children. 

“I would do everything that I could to make sure they were trained well, that they knew what was going on, that they understood the ins and outs of the business, and I would feel very comfortable talking to them all the time because I also warn them about pitfalls and things not to do,” he claimed during an episode of his “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” podcast. 

Matt also said that he would start them small and get them into smaller promotions first, and claims that he would have no problem appearing alongside his brother at these events to boost his children, even though they’d both be really old by then. 

“Old Ass Hardy Men here, coming out,” he exclaimed, emphasizing that he’d also make sure they get to network while they build themselves up. “I think that’s what makes people good, competent professionals that are very versatile.”

At the same time, Matt admits that they’ll probably get criticism from detractors, but claims it wouldn’t bother him. 

“If I didn’t think they were doing something up to par, I would also be critical of them,” he asserted. “But people are gonna be critical. That’s just – since social media and the internet is out, no one is ever going to not be criticized if you’re in a spotlight.”
