Reality of Wrestling “Glory 13”
August 22, 2026, in Texas City, Texas, at Walker Texas Lawyer Arena
Streamed live on YouTube.com
The lighting is always really good here. The crowd was much smaller than the last taping, with maybe 200 in attendance. Kirby Camerson and Sammy Kay provided commentary.
* In true indy form, the show finally started at 7:08 p.m. CST. A highlight package opened. Like usual, it ended with Booker T sitting behind his desk, laughing maniacally.
* Glory GM Ivory Robbins was in the ring. She introduced the new Glory champion, Big Luther! Again, he gets a Keith Lee comparison, but not as big. He wasn’t dressed to wrestle. The crowd chanted, “You deserve it!” at him. He talked about overcoming the odds by beating AJ Francis and his House Money faction to win the belt at the last show. Right on cue, Francis and House Money came out of the back. Francis gave him credit for walking out as champion. He vowed he’s getting a rematch next month! But tonight, Francis told Big Luther to go find a partner for a tag match later!
* Backstage, Taylor interviewed the new Glory Women’s Champion, Mia Friday. Mia was confident she’s going to retain tonight against Ruthie Jay. She noted that she just turned 20. (I have loosely compared her to Kelani Jordan.)
1. Mia Friday vs. Ruthie Jay for the ROW Glory Women’s Title. A clean lockup, and they both appear to be about the same height and weight. I’ve seen Ruthie lately from Minnesota to Massachusetts, so she’s well-traveled. Her hair is more black than white/silver today. They traded early rollups. Mia hit a dropkick at 2:00, then a springboard armdrag. Ruthie hit a Northern Lights Suplex for a nearfall.
Ruthie hit a leaping Meteora to the face for a nearfall, and she tied Mia in a top hammerlock. Mia hit some hair-mare faceplants at 4:00 and a tornado DDT for a nearfall. Ruthie did an Airplane Spin-into-a-Cradle Shock for a nearfall. Nice! Mia hit a springboard stunner out of nowhere for the pin. They had an awkward moment where they both froze right before Mia hit the finisher, but it was otherwise pretty solid.
Mia Friday defeated Ruthie Jay to retain the ROW Glory Women’s Title at 5:32.
2. Semsei vs. Nasir Dey. Semsei wore his ninja hat and had two swords. Again, Dey was formerly known as Warren J, but he’s changed his whole look. They traded kicks to the thighs. Semsei hit some deep armdrags. He hit a top-rope crossbody block at 2:00. Dey dropped him throat-first on the top rope, and he took control. He pushed his knee into Semsei’s spine as Semsei was in the ropes. Dey hit a scoop bodyslam for a nearfall at 4:00.
Dey tied him in a cross-armbreaker on the mat. Semsei powered to his feet and hit a powerbomb at 6:00, and they were both down. Semsei hit an axe kick to the back of the head. He hit a powerslam for a nearfall at 8:00. Dey raked the eyes and pulled on Semsei’s headband! He nailed a buzzsaw kick for the tainted pin. Solid action.
Nasir Dey defeated Semsei at 8:18.
* Backstage, Erik Lockhart asked Rhys Maddox if he’s ready for the match tonight. Lockhart was frustrated, saying they are “back at the bottom.” They argued. Rhys noted he’s now been here two years; he’s not a rookie anymore. Lockhart told him, “You got to let me call the play and lead you.”
3. Erik Lockhart and Rhys Maddox vs. Devon Anello and Kari Jai Wright. I’ve seen Kari in some of the joint Revolver shows in Texas, and I like what he brings to the table. The commentators said this is the ROW debut for both Anello and Wright. Erik opened against Anello, who is white with short dark hair. He’s from Dallas. The heel commentator reiterated that Maddox needs to follow Lockhart’s lead. Devon hit a spin kick for a nearfall at 2:30. Wright, a young Black man of average size, tagged in and hit a knee strike to Erik’s jaw, and he stomped on Lockhart in their corner, then a Facewash Kick.
Devon dropped Erik gut-first over Wright’s knee! The newcomers aren’t letting Lockhart tag out. Devon put him in a Torture Rack. Erik finally hit an enzuigiri on Devon. Rhys finally tagged in at 5:30, and he hit some quick kicks. He hit a running knee on Kari for a believable nearfall. Kari threw Rhys into Lockhart! Rhys turned around, and the newcomers hit a team powerbomb move for a believable nearfall! Lockhart and Devon traded forearm strikes. Rhys hit a Swanton Bomb to pin Anello.
Erik Lockhart and Rhys Maddox defeated Devon Anello and Kari Jai Wright at 7:28.
* Backstage, Clay Roberts reminded Will Austin that he was put through a table last time and he lost. Clay wore a suit and looked like a manager today.
4. Big Time Rod vs. Alex Ace. Rod is a Black man; he might be 6’1″, but Alex Ace is listed as a seven-footer. He’s like a younger Nathan Jones. Alex landed a punch to the jaw in the opening seconds! He backed Rod into the corner and chopped him, then hip-tossed him across the ring! Alex jawed at the ref, who was clearly intimidated. Ace hit a Mafia Kick. He hit a chokeslam for the pin. A complete one-sided squash.
Alex Ace defeated Big Time Rod at 2:21.
5. Zack Zilla Mason vs. Will Austin (w/Blake Troop, Clay Roberts). They tied up on the mat. Austin applied a leg lock around the neck. They got up and traded chops. Mason hit a suplex for a nearfall at 3:00. They brawled on the floor. Austin hit a slingshot senton for a nearfall as they re-entered the ring. Mason hit a running knee at 5:30. Blake hopped on the apron, and he flipped Mason to the mat! Austin immediately hit a frog splash to the back and got a believable nearfall!
Mason hit a Samoan Drop, and they were both down. Mason hit an Exploder Suplex into the corner, then an enzuigiri. Mason delivered a clothesline that clearly missed. Awkward. He slammed Austin to the mat. He hit a clothesline that definitely connected this time. Clay pulled Austin to the floor! Mason hit a plancha onto Clay and Troop. As Mason was getting back into the ring, Clay hit him in the back of the head with a large chain! Clay pushed Mason into the ring, and Austin covered the prone Zack for the tainted pin. Good action.
Will Austin defeated Zack Zilla Mason at 9:34.
6. Hans Steele vs. Rey Azteca in a breakout match. I think the winner gets a spot on the roster. Hans is really tall, maybe 6’7″, and he’s a rocker with long, curly hair. Azteca is of average size, and he wore a lucha mask. I’m not sure I’ve seen Azteca before. I’m fairly certain Steele was a quick elimination in a Rumble here. Right on cue, a commentator noted that Steele was tossed from a battle royal in 10 seconds.
Azteca hit some dropkicks. Steele hit a big senton at 2:00; he celebrated and was booed. Steele choked Azteca in the ropes. Azteca hit some clotheslines. He hit a basement dropkick. Hans hit a Big Boot. Azteca hit a tornado DDT and a “Temple of Doom” (inverted DDT) for the pin. Decent.
Rey Azteca defeated Hans Steele at 4:56.
* Sherilyn Guerrero came to the ring, whispered in Rey’s ear, and raised his hand. What is she up to? Does she want to be his manager?
* Backstage, Taylor interviewed WWE ID prospect CJ Valor. She noted he beat Chazz “Starboy” Hall last time. She asked him about facing Daniel Alexandro tonight. He noted that he’s hot right now, as is the whole Mog Squad.
7. Daniel Alexandro vs. CJ Valor. Again, Alejandro is a bit like Berto Carillo; he’s got a good look. An intense lockup; Daniel has a height advantage over the shorter powerhouse CJ. The commentators noted that CJ is 2-0 against Daniel. CJ tossed Daniel around and hit an Exploder Suplex. He ran the ropes, but Daniel hit a dropkick. Daniel dropped him back-first on the ring apron. On the floor, Daniel ran CJ back-first into the guardrails, and he jawed at the crowd. In the ring, Daniel hit a springboard crossbody block for a nearfall at 3:00.
Alexandro hit an Irish Whip, and Valor sold the pain in his lower back. Daniel hit a delayed vertical suplex for a nearfall. He hit a full-nelson uranage slam for a nearfall at 4:30. He grounded Valor on the mat. Valor hit a Michinoku Driver! CJ hit some punches and a flying shoulder tackle. He nailed a Chaos Theory for a nearfall. CJ charged, but Daniel hit a jumping knee to the jaw and a DDT for a nearfall. Daniel leapfrogged to avoid a spear. He came off the ropes, but CJ cut him in half with a leaping spear for the pin! Great timing on that finish for both men. Bravo.
CJ Valor defeated Daniel Alexandro at 7:26.
* EJ Nduka was talking on the phone backstage. Buck Gator said something to EJ, and EJ berated him for distracting him while he was on the phone! They were about to trade punches, but they were separated.
8. Blake Trooop vs. Buck Gator. The crowd loved Buck, and they made the ‘alligator chomp’ motion with their hands. Buck reminds me a lot of a young Chuck Taylor when he first entered IWA Mid-South circa 2006. MMA fighter Blake hit some punches to the ribs and a gutwrench suplex. He mounted Buck and repeatedly punched him, and he went for a cross-armbreaker.
Buck did the Gator Roll on the mat, and the crowd popped for that. Buck hit his own gutwrench suplex, then a clothesline into the corner at 2:30. Buck hit a shoulder tackle. EJ Nduka emerged from the back, but security held him back! The distraction allowed Blake to hit a straight punch to the chin for the pin. Fine for what it was; Buck has undeniable charisma.
Blake Troop defeated Buck Gator at 3:14.
* Backstage, Taylor interviewed LJ Cleary. The Ireland native has been competing all over the U.S. (Again, he’s Lyra Valkyria’s spouse.)
9. Clay Roberts vs. LJ Cleary. Again, the short, bald Clay Roberts looks similar to former NXT wrestler Oney Lorcan. LJ got in the ring and was dancing and playing to the crowd; Clay attacked him, and we’re underway. LJ hit a dropkick, and he posed. Clay rolled to the floor. Cleary hit a running Penalty Kick on the apron, and he tossed Clay back into the ring. Roberts hit a backbreaker over his knee at 2:00. The crowd was jeering him.
Roberts slowed it down with a headlock on the mat. LJ hit a double stomp to the back for a nearfall. Roberts hit a Claymore Kick for a nearfall at 3:30. They traded rollups. LJ hit some spin kicks. Clay caught him with a roundhouse kick to the skull for the pin! That wrapped up suddenly. A clean pin, too!
Clay Roberts defeated LJ Cleary at 5:01.
* House Money was headed to ringside, but Glory GM Ivory Robbins stopped them and informed AJ Francis that he’s banned from ringside.
10. Big Luther and a mystery partner vs. “House Money” Jossiah Jean and Quentin Wynters (w/Tianna Sway.) The heel commentator was livid that AJ was banned from ringside. Luther introduced his partner… Hoka! Kirby reminded us that Hoka competed for the ROW Title in a four-way recently. Jean, who wears his head in a bun on top of his head, opened against Luther. Luther knocked him down with a shoulder tackle. Wynters entered, but Luther splashed him in the corner.
Hoka entered and suplexed Quentin and got a nearfall. Hoka hit a Sidewalk Slam on Jean for a nearfall at 2:00. Hoka put Wynters in a full nelson, which allowed Luther to hit a chop to the exposed chest! Tianna hopped on the apron and jawed at the ref. Wynters hit a jumping knee to Luther’s jaw. House Money hit stereo dropkicks on Luther at 3:30. Jean hit some blows to Luther’s back and a DDT at 5:00.
Wynters tied him in a sleeper. Luther hit a clothesline. Hoka got a hot tag, and he hit some clotheslines, then bodyslams. He hit a flying headbutt on Jean for a nearfall, but Wynters made the save. Quentin mounted him and hit some punches. Luther hit a D’Lo-style Sky High powerbomb and pinned Wynters for the pin.
Big Luther and Hoka defeated “House Money” Jossiah Jean and Quentin Wynters at 7:11.
Final Thoughts: A solid show. I was entertained, but I wouldn’t say there is anything must-see here. Austin vs. Mason was the standout match. I liked Valor’s match, even though it was short. The main event takes third. They seem to draw a larger crowd when they bring in a few NXT/Evolve names from Florida. (I believe CJ Valor lives in Texas, so no surprise he’s here this week.)
The show was also missing some bigger names like Danny Limelight, Jesse Funaki, Max Castellanos, and women’s champion Monica Monroe. (And of course, Zilla Fatu likely won’t be back here as much, if at all, since signing with WWE.)
I really thought that Lockhart and Maddox were losing that match, especially when Maddox accidentally struck Lockhart. That situation will be fun to watch play out. One of my big pet peeves is that ROW still doesn’t use on-screen graphics. A new name like “Devon Anello” should be displayed; I shouldn’t have to do a Google search to figure out the correct spelling. Luckily, there are very few competitors I didn’t know on this show.
