Nigel McGuinness pulled from ROH Death Before Dishonor, new title matches announced
After successfully defeating Hechicero on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite to advance in the Continental Challenge Cup tournament, Nigel McGuinness has been pulled from Friday’s ROH Death Before Dishonor.
McGuinness was set to challenge rival and reigning Pure Champion Lee Moriarty with the stipulation that if McGuinness lost, he would be done in ROH forever. However, McGuinness has a foot injury, part of the match narrative Wednesday, and is focusing on his semifinal bout in Glasgow, Scotland, this Wednesday.
McGuinness has been replaced by Katsuyori Shibata who will now challenge for the Pure title he once held for 239 days in 2023. It will be their third-ever meeting with Shibata holding a 2-0 mark.
In another new match, the ROH Women’s TV title will be on the line as Red Velvet will defend against Zayda Steel, Marina Shafir and Skye Blue in a four-way.
In another four-way, ROH Tag Team Champions Mistico & Mascara Dorada defend against The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett), LFI (Sammy Guevara & The Beast Mortos), and Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin).
On the Zero Hour pre-show, Queen Aminata will team with Mina Shirakawa against Vertvixen & Viva Van.
