AEW star Ricochet has weighed in on comments made by Paul Heyman during the August 17, 2026 edition of WWE RAW, taking the opportunity to draw a sharp comparison between the two promotions.
The exchange began on RAW when Bron Breakker appeared ready to go after Oba Femi. Heyman stepped in to prevent Breakker from starting an immediate fight and instead suggested that the showdown should take place at WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event.
While attempting to keep Breakker under control, Heyman explained that WWE has responsibilities extending beyond those watching the product.
“This is a publicly traded company. This is the biggest promotion on the face of the planet. We don’t just answer to the people live and to people at home. We answer to shareholders.”
The shareholder reference caught the attention of former WWE star Ricochet, who responded on Twitter/X by praising AEW and suggesting its priority remains its audience.
“We’re the Greatest Wrestling company in the world. So no we don’t answer to ‘Share Holders’ we answer to OUR fans. Because they’re the ones who deserve it.”
Ricochet’s comments quickly generated plenty of reaction from wrestling fans, and the AEW star was not shy about responding to some of the criticism directed his way.
One fan suggested Ricochet would eventually “come crawling back” to WWE, prompting a fiery response from the former WWE Intercontinental Champion.
“You just keep following like a good little mark ass.”
Ricochet departed WWE in 2024 before making his AEW debut later that year. Since joining the promotion, he has not been afraid to speak openly about his former employer or respond directly to fans on social media.
His latest comments have once again added fuel to the long-running debate surrounding the differences between WWE and AEW, particularly when it comes to how both companies present themselves and their relationship with wrestling fans.
