Former WWE wrestler makes return to NJPW during G1 Climax finals

Jeff Cobb is back in NJPW.

During the G1 Climax finals Sunday morning, Callum Newman was cornering Daiki Nagai with his sword following a multi-man tag match when Gedo cut him off, saying he knew someone who could fix his attitude. Suddenly the former United Empire member arrived and confronted Newman, who seemingly tried to make amends with his former stablemate. But Cobb had none of it, shoving Newman to the floor and solidifying himself as a new member of Gedo’s Unbound Corp.

A short WWE run

Cobb had been a mainstay in NJPW, joining in 2017 and enjoying a lengthy run until April of 2025, when he was granted his release from the company despite holding the IWGP Tag Team titles at the time. The titles were vacated and Cobb made his WWE debut the following month at Backlash, quickly aligning himself with Solo Sikoa’s MFTs.

Despite winning the WWE Tag Team titles at one point, his tenure with the company lasted roughly one year. He along with fellow MFT member Tonga Loa were part of company-wide cuts that took place back in May following WrestleMania 42.
