Best Current WWE Finisher Names That Sound Badass

US Embassy travel recommendations and Crown Jewel poster

When putting together the perfect wrestler, there are plenty of aspects to consider. Some of those include ring names, nicknames, and even the names of wrestling moves, and this can really make a big difference. For instance, Kevin Owens’ “Stunner” sounds far less impressive than Steve Austin’s “Stone Cold Stunner”, with even just this minor addition making the world of difference.

When looking across the current WWE roster, there are a whole bunch of finisher names that stand out as sounding the most badass, cool, impactful, and dangerous, and this really helps to elevate the moves in question. Whether it be simply something that sounds good, if it incorporates part of the wrestler’s character and gimmick, or something more, these are the best sounding finishers in WWE right now.

Fall From Grace – Oba Femi

  • Oba Femi hits a Pop-Up Sitout Powerbomb as his finishing move.
  • Femi’s Fall From Grace is a badass sounding move.
  • He has beaten the likes of Brock Lesnar with this finisher.

Over the years, many wrestlers have used a powerbomb as their finisher such as Batista, Kevin Nash, Kevin Owens and more, with a whole bunch of finisher names to boot. Oba Femi’s Fall From Grace is one of the best and most badass iterations of a powerbomb, both in name and with how impactful it looks every time he hits it on an opponent – whether that be a random jobber or someone on the scale of Brock Lesnar or Bronson Reed, with Femi being able to nail the move on anyone of any size.

Bringing an opponent down from the clouds, literally handing them their fall from grace, is a good play on words and ultimately a tremendous name for a finishing move.

Kiss Of Death – Bianca Belair

  • Bianca Belair uses a Sitout Burning Hammer.
  • Belair’s Kiss Of Death is often shortened to “KOD”.
  • Belair is one of the most successful women’s wrestlers of all time in WWE.

Ever since emerging as a future star in WWE, Bianca Belair has used the badass-sounding Kiss Of Death finishing move, which looks as good as it sounds when executed.

A Kiss Of Death is often the mark of impending doom, death, or failure when used outside of professional wrestling, making it a great name for a move. The smooching lips kissing symbol has been used a lot throughout Belair’s time in WWE as part of her whole presentation and look, which also works pretty well with the name of her finisher too. It has brought Belair many world titles, victories in the main event of WrestleMania, and more.

Claymore – Drew McIntyre

  • Drew McIntyre is WWE’s only Scottish men’s world champion.
  • The Claymore is a classic Scottish word for sword.
  • McIntyre’s finisher has brought him a lot of glory in WWE.

Much of Drew McIntyre’s presentation is that of a “Scottish Warrior”, very reminiscent of the style in the Highlander film series. His finishing move is therefore called the Claymore, which is the classic name of a Scottish sword, and it sounds pretty badass when considering the meaning of it.

McIntyre attacks his opponents with a vicious, hard-hitting running kick, flashing in a very sword-like manner. This move has led McIntyre to multiple world titles throughout his WWE career. At one point in time, Vince McMahon had McIntyre making his entrance with a sword too, which was admittedly a little overkill.

3

Tsunami – Bronson Reed

  • Bronson Reed uses a Diving Splash as his finishing move.
  • Reed is called the Aus-zilla in WWE.
  • The Tsunami makes Reed’s finisher feel deadly.

Tsunamis are some of the most scary, destructive, and deadly forces of nature on the entire planet, so using it as the name of a finishing move already provides plenty of connotations.

Bronson Reed’s splash is delivered with such force, roughness, and impact, which in turn elevates the name of the move even further. The combination of the name and the picture perfect (but also imperfect by design) execution helps to make the Tsunami one of the best finishers in WWE today. It is a simple name but it is incredibly effective.

2

The Accolade – Rusev

  • Rusev uses the Camel Clutch submission.
  • Rusev’s version is called The Accolade.
  • The Accolade makes Rusev sound prominent and important.

Particularly during his run as a “Russian hero” (despite being Bulgarian) in WWE, The Accolade was a finishing move that helped to make Rusev sound important, grand, and badass. His version of the Camel Clutch was very dominant for a period of time, putting him on a winning streak that saw him rule as United States Champion for several unstoppable months and even beat John Cena one time.

When in AEW, Rusev called this move the “Game Over”, which was far less imposing and threatening. The Accolade is a terrific name for a finishing move, and it is still among WWE’s best.

1

Black Widow – AJ Lee

  • AJ Lee uses an Octopus Hold as her finisher.
  • The Black Widow is a dangerous venomous spider.
  • This works perfectly as a wrestling submission name.

Spiders are very accomplished at catching their prey, wrapping them up, and rendering them unable to escape. This is an example as to why the Black Widow finisher name is the perfect way to describe AJ Lee’s submission, in which she traps several limbs and makes herself very hard to shake off when locking it in on an opponent.

Lee has multiple finishers, also using the Shining Wizard knee strike, though the Black Widow sounds way more deadly and cool as a finisher. It has proven to be very effective over the years, handing her wins in major championship matches (most notably during her Divas Title reign), most recently the Intercontinental Championship from Becky Lynch.
