AEW All Out press conference notes: Ospreay vs. Okada set for Grand Slam France – POST Wrestling

Will Ospreay will defend the AEW World Championship against Kazuchika Okada at Grand Slam France on October 6 in Paris.

Ospreay issued the challenge during the post-All Out press conference after retaining his title against Jon Moxley in the main event. Okada, who had successfully defended the International Championship against Tommaso Ciampa earlier in the night, came out and accepted.

Ospreay challenges Okada

Ospreay spoke about his history with Okada, describing him as an older brother and mentor before saying he wanted to face him as AEW continues expanding internationally.

“I’ve leveled up and I am one of the best professional wrestlers in the world right now,” Ospreay said. “I want you to challenge me for my world championship on October 6th in Paris.”

Okada responded, “Of course,” before adding, “Bonjour, bitches.”

Tony Khan then made the match official, noting that Okada defeated Ospreay in the final of the Continental Classic.

Ospreay said he intends to revisit opponents who beat him during his rise to the AEW World Championship. He named Okada and Darby Allin among those losses he hopes to avenge.

AEW World title could be defended in NJPW

Asked whether Ospreay could eventually defend the AEW World Championship in New Japan Pro Wrestling, Khan said he believed that was possible.

Khan pointed to AEW’s existing relationship with NJPW and noted that AEW talent has worked in Japan outside of Forbidden Door.

He also mentioned CMLL as another partner promotion where an AEW World Championship defense could potentially take place.

Khan open to AEW pay-per-view in Mexico

Khan also expressed interest in taking an AEW pay-per-view to Mexico following the company’s Grand Slam events in the country.

Asked specifically about the possibility of running a larger event there, Khan cited both Estadio Azteca and Arena México as potential venues.

Khan noted that Grand Slam Mexico has been staged in consecutive years and described the event as an important part of AEW’s international expansion.

New Level to have expanded digital role

Khan was asked about Kofi & Austin Creed and whether AEW might seek to acquire their previous gaming-focused YouTube presence.

He said he could not speak to ownership of existing channels but intends for The New Level to have a significant role in AEW’s digital output in addition to television, pay-per-view and live events.

Khan also addressed how their move to AEW came together, saying he waited for a 90-day period to expire before beginning discussions with them.

“I really did all the things above board,” Khan said. “I waited for the 90 days to expire before I started talking to them.”

Khan addresses WWE counter-programming question

Khan was asked about WWE running Worlds Collide in the Chicago market on the same day as All Out, as well as upcoming programming scheduled opposite AEW.

He referred to a Fightful Select report citing WWE sources who were said to be surprised by how well All Out sold. He questioned why AEW’s performance should come as a surprise.

Khan said AEW had sold out the NOW Arena on multiple occasions and argued that anyone underestimating the company would be making a mistake.

He also said All Out’s pay-per-view performance was “way up year over year” compared with the 2025 event, the first All Out available as a pay-per-view through HBO Max. He seemed to be speaking specifically about HBO Max PPV buys, and no specific figures were provided.

Khan discusses expanded pay-per-view calendar

Asked about AEW growing from four annual pay-per-views to 10 following the addition of Redemption, Khan said the expansion has accompanied increases in weekly television and the size of the roster.

He said AEW now produces four hours of weekly television and believes the larger schedule gives the company enough talent and storylines to sustain more pay-per-view events.

Khan also said the expanded schedule had been beneficial to AEW commercially, citing increased buys and live-event sales, although he did not provide figures.

As for 2027, Khan said AEW has “a lot of exciting ideas” but made no new announcements regarding the company’s calendar.
