RevPro’s Andy Quildan reflects on having Will Ospreay appear at London show one night before All In – POST Wrestling

How many independent wrestling promoters can say they had a wrestler appear at their show one night before they headlined Wembley Stadium?

No matter how long or short that list is, RevPro’s Andy Quildan can now say he’s on it after getting Will Ospreay at the company’s 14th Anniversary show last month.

Ospreay surprisingly worked as part of a 10-man tag opener at RevPro’s 14th Anniversary card in London, England a couple of weeks back, wrestling just one night before he won the AEW World Championship off Kenny Omega in the main event spot of All In.

Quildan revealed some of the backstory regarding Ospreay’s appearance on the show recently when speaking with POST Wrestling. He said that the AEW champ was quick to offer his services for the event when first approached.

When we were running this show, I just said to Will, ‘Look, would you like to make an appearance? Maybe we could do a tag, maybe you just make a special appearance?’ I feel like it would just be fitting for Will to be there, for his presence to be felt in some way. And, of course, anyone who knows Will knows how enthusiastic he is about professional wrestling. Of course, he just jumped at the opportunity to be involved. He spoke to AEW about it, got clearance. I think with Will in AEW, I think there’s just a huge amount of respect and trust. I think in the post-match Wembley All In press conference, Tony [Khan] said something along the lines of, ‘He told me he’d be fine. He told me he wouldn’t get hurt, and I trusted him.’ I think that trust, obviously, pays off.

Quildan said that, once it became clear how integral Ospreay would be for All In, he gave the AEW name a chance to possibly pull out from his RevPro commitment. But, Ospreay never wanted to back down from the opportunity.

I think I probably spoke to Will about it before the show even became public knowledge. And, of course, I don’t think either of us even knew Will would be in that headline environment [at All In] … We kind of framed it in a way where he didn’t have to do it, and at any point he could’ve pulled from the show, and he never did. In fact, a few times he checked up to make sure, ‘Do you still want me to do it? I’d understand if you didn’t want me to do it.’ And what a moment it was, and I think that’s what makes pro wrestling so special. In many ways, that helps build Will’s connection with the UK audience, because this is where it started, and he hasn’t forgotten his roots, he hasn’t forgotten where he has came from, and I think it creates a real affinity between Will Ospreay and the crowd, and that special connection, I believe was there for to see at All In at Wembley Stadium.

RevPro has been a home for Ospreay throughout his career. He has made appearances for the company throughout his career, dating back to 2013. He carried the RevPro Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship for 919 days, and through two reigns has held the company’s cruiserweight belt for more than 50o days.
