CMLL Clarifies Tessa Blanchard’s Status With MLW Wrestling News Source – Latest WWE, AEW, Pro Wrestling News, Sunday Night’s Main Event Results

CMLL has clarified that Tessa Blanchard’s upcoming MLW appearance is currently a one-night deal.

Blanchard is scheduled to make her MLW debut at Fightland on September 12 in Charleston, South Carolina. While initial announcements described her as “joining” MLW, CMLL says no agreement exists beyond that event.

In a statement issued on Friday, CMLL confirmed:

“Regarding Tessa Blanchard’s participation in Major League Wrestling (MLW), CMLL announces that the agreement between the parties is limited exclusively to her appearance at the September 12 event, with no additional commitments or championship matches included. Therefore, there is no agreement between Tessa Blanchard, MLW, and CMLL that extends beyond this appearance.”

Blanchard recently appeared on TMZ Sports’ Inside the Ring podcast, where she expressed excitement about working with MLW. She also described herself as the franchise player its women’s division needs.

However, CMLL’s statement makes clear that no further appearances or championship matches have been agreed.

CMLL and MLW have worked together through a strategic alliance established in 2023.

Shotzi Blackheart currently holds the MLW Women’s World Featherweight Championship after defeating Shoko Nakajima in February. Scarlett Bordeaux, Lady Frost, Zamaya and Priscilla Kelly are also part of the division.

Blanchard’s opponent for Fightland has yet to be announced.

Blanchard remains under contract with CMLL. Earlier this year, she requested her release from TNA Wrestling after being asked to choose between the two promotions.

Despite leaving TNA, Blanchard has spoken positively about its management and said she understands the company’s position.
