Alexa Bliss has suffered a painful-looking eye injury just days before she is due to step back into the ring at WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event.
The WWE star shared photos on her Instagram Stories showing heavy bruising around one of her eyes following an unfortunate accident at home.
Bliss revealed the injury happened after she got up during the night to use the bathroom, only for things to go very wrong.
“Got up to pee in the middle of the night, slipped & hit my eye on the shower handle. Woke up like this,” Bliss wrote.
The photos showed noticeable bruising around her eye, and the timing could hardly be worse with Bliss currently advertised to wrestle this weekend.
Bliss is scheduled to team with Charlotte Flair and Tatum Paxley against Jade Cargill, Michin and B-Fab in a six-woman tag team match at WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event on September 6 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
There has been no indication at this stage that Bliss has been removed from the match, although her condition will naturally be something fans keep an eye on heading into the event.
Bliss has recently been working alongside Flair and Paxley, with Paxley becoming involved after making her main roster debut on the August 7 episode of SmackDown. Paxley helped Flair defeat Cargill, quickly placing herself in the middle of the rivalry involving Cargill, Michin and B-Fab.
Bliss and Flair already have plenty of history as a team. The pair previously held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship for 100 days before eventually losing the titles to Asuka and Kairi Sane.
Their partnership came together following Bliss’ return to WWE after a two-year absence at the 2025 Royal Rumble.
Bliss remains one of the most decorated women of her generation in WWE, having captured five world championships alongside multiple tag team titles and a Money in the Bank victory.
For now, fans will be hoping the bruising looks worse than it feels and that Bliss will still be able to compete as planned on September 6.
