WWE’s latest trademark filing relates to the company’s fan-favorite Vault YouTube channel.

The promotion filed a new trademark for the term “WWE Vault” on September 1, with the application listing that the trademark is meant to cover professional wrestling transmitted through broadcast media. WWE Vault launched on YouTube in 2024 and uploads classic matches and shows, along with rare and never-before-seen content. This new filing comes after a previous dispute from 2024-2026 where WWE was not granted approval due to it being too similar to a ticketing company’s trademark for “The Vault.”

Here is what is listed in the goods and services section of the application:

  • Entertainment services, namely, a show about professional wrestling; entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing wrestling news and information through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information.

More broadly, “Vault” is a word that WWE has started to use for all its archival content. The portion of the Raw library that’s available on Netflix is called the “WWE Raw Vault.”

WWE shocked by the success of Vault channel —

The Vault YouTube channel is largely focused on WWE archival footage but does upload classic events from promotions like Mid-South, Georgia Championship Wrestling, and other territories where WWE owns the library. WWE’s Head of Digital Media Steve Braband told Front Office Sports this May that, every single week, he’s shocked by how well the channel performs.

“The success of that came with no new resources [needed],” Braband said. “We tapped into a few people that were passionate about our archive, saw the engagement on our main channel, and just moved our whole vault to this page. We’re about to hit the four-million sub mark—and it shocks me every week how some content does.”

Currently, the channel is at 4.29 million YouTube subscribers.
