Darby Allin has opened up about why capturing the AEW TNT Championship continues to hold such a special place in his career, even admitting that his original TNT title victory meant more to him personally than becoming AEW World Champion.

Allin became TNT Champion for the third time at AEW All In on Sunday at Wembley Stadium in London, defeating Kevin Knight in a wild Falls Count Anywhere match.

Speaking to the media following the show, Allin was asked what it meant to once again have the TNT Championship around his waist. His answer took him back to the early days of AEW, when he was still questioning whether he truly belonged in the company.

“It sounds weird and very strange, but winning (the TNT title) meant more to me than the World championship. That is going to sound so crazy, but when I first won this (for the first time), I truly felt I belonged in this company. It always brings me back to that insecure year one of AEW. Am I really going to fit? Am I going to last in this? This (tapping the title) gave me the confidence so I hold this so close,” Allin said.

His latest championship victory came in typically fearless Darby Allin fashion.

During his Falls Count Anywhere battle with Knight, Allin climbed high above the stage before launching himself from the scaffolding onto his opponent. Knight was eventually placed on a stretcher, but Allin was not finished.

The challenger delivered another Coffin Drop and secured the pinfall to become TNT Champion for the third time.

The result also brought their rivalry full circle after Knight turned on Allin at Double or Nothing in May.

AEW President Tony Khan later joked that he hopes his new TNT Champion is medically cleared in time for this week’s television, admitting that having Allin available would “help him out a lot.”

After another dangerous performance at Wembley, Allin leaves the United Kingdom not only with championship gold, but with a title that represents something much deeper to him.
