Will Ospreay gave wrestling fans a huge surprise when he appeared at Revolution Pro Wrestling’s 14th Anniversary Show, stepping into the ring for an unexpected match before setting up an intriguing moment ahead of AEW All In at Wembley Stadium.

The opening contest was originally advertised as an eight-man tag team match, with CPF’s Danny Black, Maverick Mayhew, Joe Lando and the returning Callum Newman taking on Will Kaven, Mark Trew, Kieron Lacey and Ricky Knight Jr.

However, things quickly changed before the bell.

Sha Samuels made his return following a one-month suspension and joined forces with the opposing team, turning the contest into an impromptu 10-man tag. Samuels mocked CPF and claimed they had no more friends because they were, in his words, “ugly mugs.”

The numbers initially worked in the heels’ favour as they attacked CPF before the match could officially get underway.

Then Ospreay’s music hit.

The crowd erupted as the AEW star made his surprise entrance, although there was initially some tension between Ospreay and Newman.

Newman is now the leader of United Empire, the faction Ospreay originally founded during his time with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Newman initially stood in Ospreay’s way before eventually agreeing to allow his former leader to join the fight.

Ospreay helped turn the match around and eventually secured victory for his team, hitting Trew with the Hidden Blade before scoring the pinfall.

The story did not end there.

With Newman and Ospreay remaining inside the ring, Ospreay picked up a microphone and explained that he simply could not pass up the opportunity to appear at RevPro’s anniversary celebration.

Ospreay also apologised to Newman for not being around for United Empire and admitted the pair still had some things they needed to work through.

However, Ospreay reminded Newman that he had been in his corner on the night Newman captured the IWGP title.

He then made a special request ahead of AEW All In at Wembley Stadium, saying he could use “his little brother” in his corner for the huge show.

Newman initially dropped the microphone and looked ready to leave Ospreay behind.

Instead, he turned around and embraced Ospreay.

The emotional moment appeared to set the stage for Newman potentially accompanying Ospreay at Wembley, adding another interesting wrinkle heading into AEW All In.
