A former WWE star has sparked speculation about another run with the company after reuniting backstage with CM Punk.

Davey Boy Smith Jr., also known as Harry Smith, was in attendance for WWE’s recent live event in Calgary, Alberta, where he caught up with several familiar faces from his past. Among them was current Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk.

Smith shared two backstage photos alongside Punk on social media, reflecting on their history together and teasing the possibility that their paths could cross inside the ring again.

“Was really great seeing some old friends from the past tonight backstage at WWE Live Event in home city of Calgary AB Canada!!! I had been on both same side and opposite teams with @CMPunk in the past. One day that might happen again…you never know….”

The comments quickly raised eyebrows among fans, particularly given Smith’s previous history with WWE and his unsuccessful attempt to make a full-time comeback five years ago.

The son of WWE Hall of Famer The British Bulldog, Davey Boy Smith, first joined WWE in 2006. He later found success as part of The Hart Dynasty alongside Tyson Kidd and Natalya, with the group capturing championship gold before eventually going their separate ways.

Smith departed WWE in 2011 but returned to the company a decade later in 2021. He competed in a dark match ahead of an episode of SmackDown, seemingly setting the stage for another run with the promotion.

However, that comeback never made it to WWE television. Smith was released in November 2021, bringing his brief return to an end before he could be introduced as part of an on-screen storyline.

Now, five years later, his reunion with Punk and the intriguing “you never know” comment has once again opened the door to speculation about whether Smith could eventually find his way back to WWE.
