Matt Cardona says he tore triceps during taping for ‘WWE Main Event’ – POST Wrestling
WWE’s Matt Cardona says he suffered a torn triceps during a match taped ahead of Friday’s episode of SmackDown in Toronto.
Cardona announced the injury on Sunday, sharing a locker-room photograph in which his upper arm appears visibly swollen.
I wish my arm was this jacked. Unfortunately, it’s just swollen because I tore my tricep in a match on Friday night. (I still went to the gym today and did legs) I’ll keep you updated. I’M NOT FINISHED.
Cardona did not appear on the August 21 SmackDown broadcast from Scotiabank Arena. However, Fightful reports that he faced Kit Wilson in a match taped for WWE Main Event before the live show.
Cardona has not said whether the tear will require surgery or provided a timetable for his return. He also did not indicate how the injury occurred.
His most recent televised match took place one week before the injury. Cardona confronted Gunther on the August 14 SmackDown after the former World Heavyweight Champion insulted Cardona’s wife, Interim WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green. An impromptu match followed, with Gunther submitting Cardona using a Boston Crab.
The 41-year-old has dealt with significant arm and upper-body injuries previously. He tore his biceps during a GCW match with Blake Christian in May 2022 and underwent surgery. Cardona also had surgery for a torn pectoral muscle in April 2024.
