Popular WWE Stars Triple H Failed To Capitalize On

AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura fist bump

Triple H has been at the top of WWE’s creative ladder since 2022, taking over from Vince McMahon and ushering WWE into a new era. Among the many positives and negatives of Triple H’s WWE rule, there have been several instances of him failing to capitalize on particular popular stars who got over.

Whether it be random spurts of momentum, the audience handpicking the stars they want to cheer for, or strong booking that was eventually halted out of nowhere, Triple H has made some misfires when it comes to certain popular WWE wrestlers who found a connection with the audience.

Latino World Order

Rey Mysterio LWO

  • Triple H brought back the LWO.
  • Rey Mysterio’s new faction had a lot of popularity early on.
  • Triple H failed to grow the connection between all members.

Rey Mysterio rebooted the LWO faction in WWE, aligning with the likes of Santos Escobar, Cruz Del Toro, Joaquin Wilde, Zelina Vega, Dragon Lee, among others. The WWE audience gave the LWO regular massive pops and got behind them naturally, with their peak coming at Backlash 2023 alongside honorary member Bad Bunny, with the group being showered by praise and adulation.

Instead of Triple H growing the momentum in the group and putting spotlight on the individual members, WWE’s audience eventually grew out of love with the act due to a lack of interesting storylines and no personality being attached to many of the members. The LWO gradually faded out with a whimper when they could have been a very strong babyface faction for years.

LA Knight

  • LA Knight has been majorly over in WWE for years.
  • He has experienced ups and downs in terms of momentum on WWE TV.
  • Triple H didn’t pull the trigger on a world title reign.

Ever since shredding the awful “Max Dupri” gimmick, LA Knight became an instant hit on WWE programming, winning fans over with his infectious personality and Attitude Era-esque promo delivery.

Knight has been a presence in the midcard and upper midcard for a while, with the odd world title challenge here and there, but despite his incessant popularity, Triple H has never fully committed to a major push. There is no doubt that fans would get behind Knight as a world champion, but time is ticking and Triple H has yet to fully capitalize on his fullest potential.

Kit Wilson

  • Pretty Deadly were not booked too prominently on the main roster.
  • Kit Wilson worked hard to establish himself as a singles division star.
  • Despite his popularity, Triple H made Wilson an afterthought.

Kit Wilson reinvented himself as a singles star in 2026 with his brand new “Toxic Masculinity” gimmick, getting over with fans very quickly with catchphrases, poetry, and infectious entrance music. However, despite his growing popularity, Triple H cut his legs from underneath him and undermined his momentum.

Wilson was thrust into a comedic tag team with The Miz, made to look like a fool against Danhausen, and can now hardly get a taste of mic time or WWE programming, taking away his best tools that he was using to climb in the company.

R-Truth

  • R-Truth’s run as “Ron Killings” began sensationally.
  • Triple H did not have a plan for R-Truth.
  • He fell back into his comedic role on WWE TV.

WWE fans were in inconsolable fury when it emerged that R-Truth may be on the verge of leaving the company, leading to his surprise return at Money In The Bank 2025. Following this, a more serious version emerged, as Truth shaved his head and called himself “Ron Killings” on WWE TV. There was so much potential for this red-hot version of Truth to receive a big push before hanging up the boots… only for Triple H to have a grand total of zero proper plans for him.

It wasn’t long until “Ron Killings” was dead and buried, and the comedic “R-Truth” was back. We could have seen a midcard title run, a big feud with someone else on the roster, and more great promos… only Triple H failed to capitalize on the hype and buzz of this character overhaul.

Wyatt Sicks

  • The Wyatt Sicks’ WWE debut was stunning.
  • Fans remained faithful to The Wyatt Sicks despite bad booking.
  • Triple H had no clue what to do with this faction.

When The Wyatt Sicks made their wild, cinematic, goosebump-inducing debut in 2024, fans went crazy for them. Every time they emerged on WWE programming, even if it was to just stand and posture, procured them bigger reactions than most on the roster. However, Triple H did not know how to book them.

Bland rivalries, a never-ending feud with The MFTs, dropping the ball on Uncle Howdy’s character, and a lack of direction led to their momentum dropping until their eventual release in 2026. This group could have been something special… but Triple H did not have the desire to book them to be anything substantial.

Dakota Kai

Dakota Kai in the ring

  • Kai had a lot of fans within WWE.
  • She performed well as part of Damage CTRL.
  • WWE released Dakota Kai and gave up on her.

Fans have always been appreciative of Dakota Kai’s talents, whether that be as a heel or a babyface. Her work in Damage CTRL was fantastic under Triple H, and things looked to be on the up with a potential singles push on the horizon… until she was released from the company at the start of 2025.

Unfortunately, Triple H failed to do enough with her to warrant her staying with the promotion, despite the waves of online support she would always receive. Kai had a lot of potential to be a champion and singles star, but she was never afforded this chance on the main roster.
