Dean Malenko’s daughter is reportedly getting a new identity as she continues the early stages of her WWE career.
According to a report from False Finish on Sunday, the third-generation wrestler will now perform under the name Kenzie. She had previously been using Lacey Simon for appearances at NXT live events and dark matches.
Before joining WWE earlier this year, Kenzie competed as Marie Malenko, a name that directly acknowledged her famous wrestling family. Under that name, she made four appearances in Japan, wrestling twice for Pro Wrestling NOAH and twice for Marigold.
WWE signed Malenko in March before officially introducing her as part of its latest rookie class in May. The group also included Mason Rook, Nicole Martinez and Marcus Brown.
Her first WWE match came ahead of the May 26 NXT television taping at the Performance Center. Competing in a dark match, she was defeated by Zena Sterling.
Since then, Kenzie has continued gaining experience within WWE’s developmental system, stepping into the ring with Myka Lockwood, Vanta The Unknown, Kelani Jordan and Gianna Capri.
Her latest match took place at an NXT live event in Melbourne, Florida, on August 7, where she faced Kali Armstrong and came up short.
The reported switch to Kenzie marks another change in presentation for the young prospect as WWE continues to develop her behind the scenes and on the NXT live event circuit.
