AEW performer ‘blamed’ for Shingo Takagi’s bad G1 this year
Shingo Takagi has called out an AEW performer, blaming them for his poor showing in this year’s G1 Climax tournament. Takagi and he and Drilla Moloney lost to PAC and Castagnoli on the 7/2 episode of AEW Collision, which seems to be setting the stage for a match in September.
Speaking backstage after the G1 Finals on August 16, Takagi would call out AEW’s Claudio Castagnoli, saying that he wants him to come to Kobe and face him one-on-one (the following is translated from Japanese):
“Before the ‘G1,’ I lost to you, and it threw off my whole rhythm! This ‘G1’ where I went 4 wins and 5 losses? Claudio, that’s on you. Don’t act all high and mighty, punk. Come to Kobe, my second hometown, Kobe! Claudio Castagnoli, get your a** here!”
Shingo Takagi vs Claudio Castagnoli
It appears as though we might be getting Shingo vs Claudio at Destruction in Kobe on September 27. Putting aside neutrality for a second; inject this sh*t into my veins immediately, potential match of year incoming.
These are the matches that have been confirmed for Destruction in Kobe on September 27 (as of writing):
- Yota Tsuji will be defending the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against Hirooki Goto
- IWGP Global heavyweight Championship will be on the line when Gabe Kidd defends against Drilla Moloney

- Jeff Cobb will go one on one with Callum Newman
