The winner of G1 Climax 36 will be crowned at Ryogoku Sumo Hall on Sunday.

The 2026 edition of the tournament has come down to Yuya Uemura vs. Ryohei Oiwa. Uemura defeated IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Yota Tsuji in the semifinals on Saturday, while Oiwa defeated Callum Newman to advance to the final.

Both wrestlers finished round-robin action with 12 points and in second place in their respective blocks, advancing to the knockout stage on tie-breakers.

As of this writing, no other matches have been announced for the final night of this year’s tournament.

Neither Uemura nor Oiwa has won the G1 Climax before.

While the G1 winner traditionally challenges for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom, the last two tournament winners, Zack Sabre Jr. and Konosuke Takeshita, both challenged for the title at King of Pro-Wrestling in October.

Our live coverage kicks off at 3 p.m. Japan Standard Time.
